Essay on Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton

America was shaped by strong opposite opinions between two original party leaders. These party leaders were Thomas Jefferson, a Democratic-Republican. and Alexander Hamilton, a Federalist. They had many different opinions on topics such as Ideal Economies and Best Forms of Government. Some rules and ways of living were stricter than others. 

For instance, in the case of an Ideal economy, Alexander Hamilton and the Federalist Party preferred to build a strong economy, built with lots of Manufacturing and Trading. With the implication of a National Bank to handle the countries financial matters. He also wanted to quickly clear off the nation’s debts and grow the wealth of the country. Jefferson had a very different mindset and way of thinking when it came to an Ideal Economy. He Favored the Farmer’s Life and wanted to grow the economy on Agriculture. He Opposed all forms of a National Bank and deemed it unconstitutional and Anti-Farmer. He had a strong aversion to ideas revolving around structuring the economy on Manufacturing and Trade. 

Comparably to their opinions on the Best Form of Government. Being born originally in the Caribbean Hamilton had no deep loyalty to any particular state, he believed only the Wealthiest and Brightest of Men should lead the state, like himself. He wanted a strong central government leading the nation, with a loose form of rules and constitution restriction. On the other hand, Jefferson believed in Strict use of the constitution and stern laws. He was hoping for a smaller central government and bigger state governments that would be more powerful. He also was of the opinion that anyone could run. 

To briefly review, both Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton had big ideas and thoughts for the building blocks of government and a perfect economy. As you can see many of those works are still being implemented in today’s society, with the use of a national bank and government. But also, the effort of Agricultural work in our country around 230 years after these oppositions were happening.
