Colombia has many unique things about the country. Colombia has many different types of climates, from snow-covered mountains to tropical beaches. The desert has vast grasslands in the east called Los Llanos. Since the country is close to the equator, the temperatures in the weather do not change dramatically. Colombia has only one type of climate change which happens in the springtime when it is the time they get rain. People would not find four clearly defined seasons here like in other parts of the world. Instead, seasons are characterized more by rain fluctuations than by temperature changes. In a year, Colombia only has two identifiable times; rainy season and dry season.
One of the most common foods and heating sources in Colombia is coffee which is the fourth-largest producer in the world. Other things that Colombia has cut flowers which are flowers used for decoration such as roses, orchids, carnations, etc. Also, bananas, corn, rice, cocoa beans, oilseeds, forest products, and corn are a part of their agriculture. Colombia's major exports are petroleum, coffee, coal, nickel, cut flowers, and bananas. The United States is Colombia's largest trading partner, representing about 41% of Colombia's exports and 27% of its imports. Colombia has considerable mineral and energy resources, especially coal and natural gas reserves.
Colombian culture is very similar to other Latin American countries, with a few things that make it unique. Looking at Colombian history, for example, the Spanish colonial era has left a lasting influence throughout the country, with a high rate of Roman Catholics in Colombian society. The area covered by modern-day Colombia was originally ruled by the indigenous tribes Muisca, Quimbaya, and Tairona. In 1499, the Spanish arrived and colonized the area, calling it New Granada. Colombia has a vibrant music scene. Two of the best-known Colombian musicians are Shakira and Juanes. The traditional national sport of Colombia is called Tejo, a team sport that involves launching objects at a target. The most popular sport in Colombia is football which in (America we would say soccer). The Colombian national team won the 2001 Copa América which means South American Championship. Age is a big priority in Colombia. The older a person is, the more powerful their voice becomes. Elders are deeply respected throughout the country.
One of the foods in Colombia is Bandeja Paisa which is Colombia's unofficial national dish. Empanadas are the perfect treat to eat on the go. Sancocho which is a traditional Colombian stew often includes chicken, pork, or beef. Arroz con Pollo which is rice and chicken that is stewed together with chicken stock. The dish is popular and simply a great dish. Traditionally served with a large squeeze of tomato ketchup, Pan de Bono is a small, round bread-like bite that’s flavored with sweet cheese. Popular all over the country, Pan de Bono is eaten as a snack throughout the day and is often served alongside a delicious hot chocolate early in the morning. Arepas are a famous part of Colombian cuisine. They’re like empanadas in that they’re made with either white or yellow corn tortillas, but Arepas don’t have any fillings, they’re also bigger and toasted. The fruits found in Colombian markets are the same as the ones found in America.
In May 1966, the first missionaries arrived. Five years later, twenty-seven congregations were established in ten cities. Church education for youth began in 1972. Colombia's first chapel for Sunday worship was built in California in 1975, Roman Catholicism is the most common religious affiliation. In a survey carried out between July and August of 2018, nearly seventy-four percent of Colombian respondents claimed to be of the catholic faith, whereas the second most chosen religion was Protestantism, with almost eleven percent of the people interviewed more than nine percent of respondents answered they had no religious affiliation, a total of 0.3 percent defined themselves either as Agnostic or Atheistic.
