No government in the world has a completely open border policy. All countries have border problems, including the United States itself. For the past decades, our country has been trying to put effort into building a better America and shaped the country's views and behavior towards immigrants and immigration, especially illegal immigrants across the borders. The fundamental question here is whether America should open its borders. As we all know, American values have always been about a chance for everyone to succeed. Thus, morally, an open border is the best way for the U.S. to be an example of liberty to the rest of the world. Furthermore, my position is not to oppose immigration and open borders but to control them for a better outcome for our country. I say that migration restrictions are a system that protects one's country in terms of threats from entering a foreign country. Opening our border does not mean everyone will come. With a better evaluation, background check, assessment of facts, information, and intentions of immigrants, there should be no threat in the future. with the numerous checkpoints that an immigrant should pass to cross the country's borders that I experienced two years ago, I can certainly agree that it will not pose a threat. However, advancements within the constraints should still be maintained. As they willingly accept the rule of law and our democratic constitution. Therefore, these immigrants accept being part of constitutional democracy and being governed by one.

Under American Laws, Foreign Nationals cannot work for an American employer unless authorized by the government. I say most immigrants are desperately poor. Hence, opening our borders could not be just a one-sided benefit claim. Immigrants who come to our country have the desire and ability to work their way out of poverty. And when they do, it will cost us less than nothing. Yes, it would benefit them, but it would also benefit us by creating more labor markets, filling job shortages, and increasing cultural diversity. In particular, about the government revenue that they will contribute to the country. In other words, it benefits America's welfare system. According to U.S. News, immigrants "increase productivity and create jobs for Americans," which means that more tax income is generated to fund the welfare state.

However, I believe that many people might not see immigration and open borders as a benefit, but for people like me, who just immigrated to the United States, it could be beneficial. An open border, in my opinion, makes it easier for individuals to travel. An open border does attract better opportunities. As you might not know, investment is crucial to a country’s desire to be a developed nation. Thus, having an open border can attract foreign investors that will contribute to a country's development. By doing so, the greater production of goods and supply chain can be much more efficient since it will be much easier for these companies to ship their goods. With an open border, it will encourage emerging companies to expand their target markets, which can lead to an increase in a country’s global GDP. Therefore, the average living standard for the local population in a country will increase as well. By doing so, neighboring countries are more likely to do so in turn. Thus, if we are to open our borders and immigration, we are seizing an equal opportunity for everyone, at the same time spreading the American ideal and helping our nation's economy grow.
