Our Pacific ocean was discovered in the 16th century by Explorer Ferdinand Magellan.  Our ocean now is about 85%  polluted with debris, plastic, and garbage, an additional 15% goes on our beaches. This issue is very harmful not only to all animals but to us humans and our planet. Almost 2 billion people and 1 million animals die from plastic, toxic waste, and polluted water.

When drinking water that is polluted there is a chance for lead poisoning and a chance of cancer. More than 200 million people are poisoned by Arsenic poisoning. Arsenic poisoning is when you’re drinking ​​contaminated water and things like heart disease, numbness, admail pain, etc, just by drinking polluted water. Plastic, toxic waste, garbage, oils, and more are all released into our ocean, whether is a natural cause or an initial purpose. It’s hard to believe sea animals live in this kind of situation. 

Sea animals and sea birds can die from getting wrapped in plastic or consuming harmful water. Sea animals can eat phytoplankton microscopic planets that are harmful to us. Sea animals are cool to watch eat, play, and more. They help us and give us entertainment. To give back we should try better on keeping our oceans clean so they can live for much longer.

There are many ways to keeping our oceans clean like filtering our trash and recycling or turning the tap water off when not in use and shorter showers. Instead of riding cars to short distances walk or ride a bike, it’ll help reduce the amount of oil pollution brought into the ocean. Plastic is one of the biggest things put into our oceans, try using paper brown bags and using ocean-safe water bottles or recycle the plastic water bottles you buy from your local store. There are many other ways you can help clean our oceans, these were just a few ways. 

So, instead of using harmful things recycle them. Try to use less water when not needed. You can help plant trees or picking up trash around our beaches that wash up from the oceans. Avoid toxic things to help your crops or other toxic waste. You can play your role to help the oceans and keeping them clean by doing these helpful tips.
