Foods that contain GMOs have more pros rather than cons and that’s why they have more positive impacts rather than negative ones. Some examples being the price of things, quality of food and how GMOs can fix world hunger.

GMO’s, an organism whose genetic material has been altered, uses a lot of chemicals but by doing so it makes the quality of our food better. When eating foods that have been genetically modified you run certain risks and benefits but there is more of a positive impact rather than a negative one. When something is genetically modified it means that their DNA has been altered in a way that is not natural. Some effects on food that are caused by this is that they last longer, their appearance changes and more of that certain good is produced. Though these things may seem positive there is also a negative side to this way of farming that can affect us and our environment.

GMOs have some positive effects that can affect the environment and the way people live in a positive way. An example of a positive effect is that it reduces world hunger and it helps to fight it. The way this works is when food is genetically modified more of it grows and it also grows faster. This is a positive effect because world hunger is an issue that we’ve been trying to solve for a long time now. “GM crops will hopefully produce more yield on less land. This may increase the overall productivity and may offer developing countries a means to sustain themselves and reduce worldwide hunger.” This quote from an article about biotechnology is stating that the use of genetically modified foods could solve world hunger by increasing productivity and more food being produced in LDCs and by doing so these countries will be able to sustain themselves. Another positive aspect is that food is cheaper. By food being cheaper it gives more people the opportunity to access it since it's a lower price, rather than it being organic which would make the food be more expensive.

Another reason why GMOs have a positive impact is by the food being more nutritious, tastier, long lasting and using less pesticides on them. When eating foods that have been genetically modified they tend to be tastier and long lasting because of all the chemicals that they contain. You may think that these chemicals are bad for you since we don't really know what they are but it hasn't been proven that they can have a negative effect on us.

“A group of scientists did an extensive review of research on the safety of crops from GMOs over the past 10 years. They found no significant harm directly tied to genetic engineering.” An article medically reviewed by Brunilda Nazario, MD on April 08, 2016 states that they haven't found any significant negative effects on foods that contain GMOs, which reassures us that they don't harm us.

By foods with GMOs containing so many chemicals it makes some people want to stay away from them. Reason being is that people think that these certain chemicals can be poisonous and bad for themselves. In addition, by these foods containing so many chemicals it makes them less healthy than it would be if they were organic, but if they were organic they would contain more pesticides, which have been proven to be more harmful than GMOs. “After countless studies, pesticides have been linked to cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, ADHD, and even birth defects.” An article written by  Samantha Jakuboski on July 25, 2011, basically states the negative effects on pesticides and some being cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, ADHD, and even birth defects. In addition they go on and add how they can also harm the nervous system, the reproductive system, and the endocrine system.

I see how some people can think that GMOs have a negative effect on people because of all the chemicals used and how they could potentially be damaging for our health, but it hasn't been proven that they are damaging therefore they are not something that is harmful.

In conclusion, even though GMOs have their pros and cons, it's not an overall bad way of farming and I think that something good because they're fast growing, long lasting, affordable and could potentially help fix world hunger.
