Ever wondered how the IOS came to life and how it changed the world just in the past ten years ? Well, Steve Jobs is the man responsible for coming up with this software that changed the technology world. The IOS is responsible for the great eco system that Apple has built, and allows its users to socialize, game, create, stay organized, and provides security to the user. In the next few paragraphs I will break down how IOS created and to what it is today and cover the latest technologies IOS is capable of.

January 9th, 2007 arguably the best presentation done by any phone company to introduce a new type of phone. The Iphone when presented at the presentation was still behind its competitors such as Black Berry, Windows Mobile, and Symbian. Still however consumers didn’t care if the newly introduced Iphone couldn’t do things that the other phones can do. Instead Apple focused on the main core experience, creating an ecosystem for the users was an essential part of Apple’s idea. With the release of this Iphone, IOS 1.0 was introduced and a lot of cool features were introduced to the phone industry, that weren’t available in any other phone at the time.

There were many features included in IOS 1, such as the mobile Safari web browser, this was revolutionary because it made opening sites very desktop like. Due to the touchscreen feature Apple perfected the scrolling feature and also allowing users to zoom simply. The Safari web browser was years ahead of its competition, even today it is ranked among the top web browsers. Another great feature that IOS 1 had was the keyboard software, this was great at the time because other companies didn’t have the touchscreen feature to start with but then you add the fact that there is more screen for reading compared to having to use a stylus to type words out. Apple made everything much easier with the touchscreen keyboard, another idea that was ahead of it’s time.

Let’s jump ahead to IOS 4, by now Apple had become one of the top competitors in the game competing with BlackBerry for the top spot. A lot more features had been added to the Iphone since IOS 1. Just to go over some of the important ones such as, the ability to use the App Store to install apps directly through Apple was a big leap. Other phone users had to use third party apps to download apps, which to be fair never really could compete with the App Store. The reason why third parties can’t compete with App Store is that the apps were intergraded and ran much smoother since they were designed and modified to be able to use on the Iphone. Also, it was much safer to download apps that were pre-approved by Apple which meant you were backed up by Apple. This helped with malwares and other bugs that could potentially slow down or even worse completely shut down your phone. Now in IOS 4 facetime was introduced, which we all love to use now due to its simplicity and fun features. Now it was time for Apple to really grow into a ecosystem which the Ipad out and the Mac. IOS 5 would change the game and allow Apple to take the throne.

Siri, iMessage, and iCloud were all introduced in IOS 5. Siri was introduced as an beta, because of the accuracy which of course Apple will come to perfect. However Siri was still a break through in technology as no other company was doing anything similar to this. Siri worked with your calendar and other apps to allow the user to request the virtual assistant to do something. Now the iMessage is my personal favorite especially because of what it has grown into today. Apple has done a really good job improving it, even when it was introduced it had great features compared to “SMS” and BlackBerry’s “BBM.” iMessage allowed Iphone users to message much easier as it could be down over WIFI and no cellular service was needed. Not even a number was needed, all one need was to have an Apple ID. The iMessage software was a big part of creating an ecosystem and a great way to draw in consumers which kept them all connected. Another great feature added in IOS 5 that is still relevant today is the over the air updates no need to connect your iPhone to a PC to perform a update. This allowed to Apple to push out more updates to fix any bugs and to improve on other software’s.

IOS 7 was introduced on September 18th, an overall redesign was implicated into the user face. A much simpler and much faster software was introduced which included the “control center.” The control center was an amazing idea which allowed users to control the WIFI, Bluetooth, do not disturb, rotation lock, and very satisfying sliders for volume and brightness. It was all about efficiency and the overall experience of the user. Another great feature added to the IOS 7 was AirDrop, this allowed users to quickly share images, videos, and other files with people around you. However the greatest feature of them all to be introduced was “Touch ID” the biometric sensor allowed users to unlock their phone with a simple touch. Not to mention that “Touch ID” strengthened security measures. Also making it easier to download apps in the app store. The possibilities of  “Touch ID” were endless as it can be introduced into third app parties app as well.

From the IOS 7 we all know what it is today as Apple has solidified its presence in the tech world. Apple products can be bought from a lot of retailers it would be impossible to be list them all since it’s an worldwide company but just to mention some; Apple, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Amazon. It’s pretty much available at most retailers that carry any type of phones. The price of the iPhone varies as on the amount of storage space or the amount of screen one wants. As the latest iPhone today starts at $999 and could go all the way up to $1599 and of course it can go way more than that as purchasing cases. I think the price is reasonable because of the experience you are getting with the iPhone. However, upgrading every year could get pricy and also Apple is trying to cut down costs but with that comes the reduction a power charger and no headphones. Apple does offer cheaper models which I believe is a great price for someone trying to just have an great phone. The iPhone is a great selling phone compared to competitors, Apple sold 80 million phones in the last 2021’s quarter compared to Samsung’s 62 million. There is still a gap between the two as Apple continues to improve and keep proving why they are number one.

Apple has affected society in a way that it will go down in history because of the influence it had on the tech world. Apple is the standard that these other phone companies inspire to be. The overall ecosystem that Apple has created is extraordinary and a hell of a marketing technique. The simplicity of having all your devices connected and the use of iCloud allows user to switch phones and even their Macs and iPads. Apple does a great job advertising their products as they know how to sell it the youth and even older people as they offer a much simpler interface to use. Simple yet still so advance is Apple’s motto because of how many things can be achieved through the IOS system. Apple spends a lot money on advertising back in 2016 they spent $1.8 billion, the reason for this amount of advertising is that it promotes innovation and a overall presence in every household. Seeing ads repeatedly of an item will lead to interest and spending more money on advertising will lead to longevity and drive up the brands value. Apple is headed in the right direction with the products they offer as the tech industry is projected to hit a 3.7 growth in the upcoming years which is all in favor of Apple as they keep expanding and introducing more products. Especially introducing Apple home which will be a hug success in the future as we progress with time. Overall Apple is a respected company and they value their customers and provide more security than any other smart phone in the industry right now.
