TwoSet Violin is an Australian duo YouTuber founded in 2014. This duo consists of Brett Yang and Eddy Chen. Both of them are classically trained violinists. Hence, their YouTube contents are mostly about classical music with humor as the sprinkles. Some of their famous contents include Violin Charades, Reacting to Violin Prodigies, and Violin Games. They actively use their platform to raise the young generation’s awareness of classical music. With their creative contents, they managed to gain fans and followers from across the world.

Eddy and Brett first met at a math tutor when Eddy was 13 and Brett was 14 years old. They soon found out that they had lots of similarities. Both Brett and Eddy have been playing the violin since a very young age, they came from the same hometown (Taiwan) and were terrible at math. Therefore, they immediately clicked. Coincidentally, they met again in Queensland Youth Orchestra the next day, because they were the two youngest musicians in the orchestra, they became very close and have been accompanying each other since then.

They started making videos in 2014 when both of them were still in the university. At first, they did it just for fun. But soon enough, they realized that they wanted to make classical music more "approachable" and "relatable" to the young generation through fun, humor, and simplicity. The young generation tends to find classical music intimidating or straight-up boring. And Twoset wanted to change that stereotype. They graduated in 2016 then started working in different orchestras. Brett was the concertmaster in Sydney Symphony Orchestra while Eddy worked with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Still, their friendship remained strong and distance was no barrier to their invincible friendship. Eddy started flying from Brisbane to Sydney every two weeks to hang out with Brett and continued making videos together.

It wasn’t long until they figured out that they cannot continue both their orchestra career and their YouTube career. They have to make a decision between these two options. At that time, their YouTube channel was still small and didn't look like a compromising future. But they wanted to give their dream a chance, even if it meant they had to take a risky chance. Therefore at the end of 2016, the duo gave up their spots in two professional orchestras with stable income and started filming full-time for YouTube. Not all of their friend supported this decision. In fact, many of their friends told Brett and Eddy that they were being irrational and calling them "dumb" for pursuing their YouTube career.

TwoSet proved that their friends were wrong. Brett and Eddy kept working hard to achieve their goals. In 2017 Twoset kickstarted a campaign to become the first-ever crowdfunded classical world tour. They scheduled a full month of busking to crowdfund for their first-ever world tour. The two committed nonstop busking and sleeping on the streets of Sydney until they hit their $50,000 goal, which they achieved in just 5 days. Their first world tour became a big success and they managed to sell all their concert tickets in New York, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and many more.

After their first successful world tour, Twoset Violin became more and more famous. By now they have over 7.000.000 followers across social media and over one billion views. They have been featured on international media such as The Violin Channel, Classic FM, Sony Classical Australia, and The Strad. They have collaborated with other high-profile artists such as Lang Lang, Hilary Hahn, Janine Jansen, James Ehnes, Maxim Vengerov, and Ray Chen.

TwoSet inspires musicians worldwide with humor and a relatable ‘imperfectness.’ TwoSet also validates the insecurities when it comes to playing classical music. Hence, they have helped a lot of musicians to overcome their insecurity by creating a YouTube channel and Reddit platform where all classical musicians can encourage each other. Not only that, TwoSet brings a new light to classical music. A common stereotype about classical music is that it is boring and only for older people. But TwoSet successfully achieved their goals and brought classical music to be more relatable to the younger generation. TwoSet also makes tons of games relating to classical music, so it makes the audiences know more about classical music in a fun way.

TwoSet has taught us to believe in ourselves and our dreams. Throughout our life, there must be a certain point where we have to make a life-changing decision. Not everyone will support our decision. Their intention might be good, but at the end of the day, it's our decision. Do not let others' opinions affect our decision. "As cheesy as it may sound, you should let your heart decide. And stay committed to your decision. Viola! Your dream is actually closer than you thought" ~Eddy Chen.
