The debate surrounding college has gone on for years, is it really imperative for success or is it not? Is college really worth the hefty investment that it requires? College is not necessary for future success, and it’s imperative to know whether or not higher education is worth the investment.

College does not guarantee future success, and it’s also not necessary in order to live a fortunate life. It is a wide spread belief that college is the only post high school route that leads to a stable income, and a steady lifestyle. Although people with degrees do typically have higher incomes, a recent study found that 38.6% of Americans with degrees did not actually pursue a career implementing that degree. It all comes down to what one would like to pursue, doctors obviously need to complete college and medical school, but there are also many other high-paying jobs that do not require a bachelor's degree.

College is a great option for seeking higher education, but are there other options that can lead to success, and potentially wealth? Besides college, there are so many other, less expensive, shorter, options. These include: realtor, loan officer, or even a cosmetologist. These options do require “schooling”, but not for nearly as long as going to a four year university. For example, a real estate license takes on average 2-5 months to acquire, and after that the world is your oyster. It may be argued that many jobs require at least a bachelor's degree, however there are equally as many well paying jobs that do not require a degree. Especially nowadays with so many online resources, and online jobs available. It is just essential to explore all of the options available, and find what route suits you best.

All in all, there are so many options available, whether that be a four year university, or pursuing a career straight out of high school. There are so many courses of action to seek out, that could lead to so many different, plentiful routes. All options for one’s post high school path should be taken into deep consideration.
