Why  is becoming a family doctor a great idea? You could help others and treat them. This essay will examine the career of a family doctor. It will discuss the career description, and how to begin the career and what it takes to become a family doctor.

The career of a family doctor's primary job is a physician which treats common illness, small injuries, addresses health problems, prescribes medication, and refers their patients to specialists. Family doctors work in hospitals and clinics.  By 2020 almost 70 percent of family doctors will work in hospitals, because hospitals need physicians to check the patient's health before doing anything like an x-ray, or  surgery, and they will refer them to a specialist in the hospital building. The average salary for family doctors is different in each state, so one must first add the location. Since 2018 the average salary for a family doctor has been $201,100. For example, here in California the average pay is $240,000. The job outlook is good.  According to careerexlporer.com, it is expected to grow by 14.3% between 2016 and 2026.”

There are a few steps needed to take in order to become a family doctor. Want to get a bachelor’s degree,  don't need to pursue a major as an undergraduate when you are getting your bachelor’s degree, this could take up to four or six years to get. After getting your bachelor’s degree, apply for Medical School or known as Med School. This process might take some time, because there are going to be other people applying for Med School. Also, Med school could cost thousands of dollars such as if living in a state that has a Medical School program or school you'll be lucky enough to pay $34,592 for in-state and that's just one year. For out-of-state students, it costs $55,000 or more for a year of Med School. It’s a risk, because you could end up in debt if you don't have the money. After those 4 years, you go to residency training, which takes up to 3 or 4 years, but the good part is that you get paid for training. After all those years, once you finish with residency training, you'll be able to take a test that you need to pass to get your Medical License, you take the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam.
