What does it mean to lead and be a leader? A person who leads assumes the role of leadership. In this position, a person takes on the responsibility of directing others to complete a task or work towards achieving a specific objective.  In the workplace, leadership can take many different shapes; there are good leaders and subpar leaders. Good leaders encourage influence and inspire their followers and subordinates while actively listening.

There are copious command styles from which to model, aside from the ones mentioned above. Leaders are not required to be married to a specific leadership style and may mix and match to harmonize with their environment. Listening to their team and making modifications to their methods can help leaders become more efficient and effective. Transformational and democratic leadership styles and task-motivated leadership are only a few examples of leadership approaches. 

Employees who work for a transformative leader are motivated to go above and beyond what is compulsory. Employees collaborate to realize a collective goal. Leaders who take this approach help their employees reach their greatest possible potential. Transformational leaders rely on communication, charm, adaptability, and empathy to achieve effective change when engaging with their workforce. This form of leadership is effective in our armed forces as well as a place of business.

Another common discipline of leadership is democratic. Democratic leadership includes the input of the team. This type of leader implores the quality census of the group to make decisions. When employees participate in making contributions to the ins and outs of the establishment, they feel more involved and invested. It fosters a collaborative mindset that encourages the team and enhances morale and job satisfaction. 

The task-motivated leader, on the other hand, is someone who is driven by completing clear objectives. This strategy may appear more direct than relationship-focused, empathy-driven approaches. These leaders motivate by setting the pace. This form of leadership can be beneficial in work environments with tight deadlines to meet. In this type of environment, there is little time to minister to the needs of individuals constantly. These leaders excel at handing out clear objectives and delegating tasks based on individual strengths to obtain a favorable outcome.
