Essay Sample: How Can a Person Make a Difference?

How can a person make a difference you asked? There are many problems happening in the world. Majority of people usually ignore their problems and others' problems. Most people think and do things for themselves. People choose to help others by doing charity, making donations. You can make an impact in two ways through doing something small, such as picking up after yourself. Alternatively, by doing things like donating, charity, and community service. Other than helping people you can help the environment.

What is a super fast and easy way to help others? I think listening is such a great way to do good in this world. If a friend or a loved one is going through something listening to what they need to say. Listening helps you understand what that person is going through and how you can help them. It also takes such a large weight off their shoulders. When I was little people made jokes about how my teeth looked. It was very hard for me to cope. I grew up to be very insecure about my teeth. I have a friend who went through the same thing. We are very unhappy with how our smiles appeared. It made both of us understand that we aren't alone.

My class and I read a book that has a similar meaning about how you aren't alone. In the story there was a boy who was going through a hard time and a lady whose name is Mrs. Jones made him feel at home and she reassured him that he wasn’t alone. That part of the story made me understand whatever you're going through, someone is going through it too.

In order to listen to what someone has to say. You need to help them. Helping a person is so important. If you want to help someone you always have to listen and understand distraction and other things can’t be helpful. There are many simple ways you can help. The small little things can help a long way. In the story of “Thank You Ma’am”- Langsten Hunghes. In the story there was a lady named Mrs. Jones and a boy. In the beginning of the story the boy tried to steal her bag of money and get a pair of shoes. Then she later catches him red handed. She eventually takes him to her home. She understands why he tried to steal from her. He made sure that he won’t make the same mistake again. By just doing that she teaches him what is wrong and right. One can help another. The person that got help can help another person in the future some day. One small little thing can help or save another person's life. If many people just did that the world might be a better place.

If you’re trying to help another person. You need to be there for them. In their hardest and desperate times. It doesn’t matter if the problem is small or big. Just being there for people just makes another day much better. Being there for others can make them feel better and best of all important. Being there for people is such a good thing to do. Maybe because if someone listened, helped, and was there for you. They might help you in return.

Personally I don’t like talking to new people so it might be a little hard for me to be there for people. If you have the same problem as I do. It is really important to get over that fear. In the same book my class and I read. There is a part that really ties in with being there for people. When the boy tried to steal her bag he told her why. Also he  told her his story and she did the same. She comforted him by telling him a similar story to his. Being there for people and comforting them is just an important thing in life.

There are many ways someone can make a difference. But the most important thing to remember is that small things can make a big difference. Doing those three things goes a long way. If you try helping out someone it can make them feel better. If you use these small ways to make a difference. Just remember you can make a difference.
