In today's world screen time is something that affects mainly everyone . Age has no number on those who indulge in screen time. The one thing it affects most is the teenage brain. teenagers should be limited on screen time because too much of it can affect social development, it can affect one’s health, and last but not least  the dangers of cyberbullying.

There are numbers of reasons how screen time could affect the teenage brain. And affecting teens social development skills are one of them. Research shows that children learn how to speak based on what they hear (Cross). This is an important reason  because it is important to focus on how a kid speaks and how they interact with adults. Nowadays adults focus on kids' posture, their social skills, and manners. especially if you are trying to get into a good school, college, etc and that's why this is an important reason. Another reason is  Children with an large amount of screen time could lose the ability to understand the emotions of others(Ruder). What this means, is that it causes children to have insecurities and less friends just from being into their phones too much. And that causes teenagers to miss out on so much all because they all want to be on their phones and not pay attention to the real world.

Another reason why people think sceen time is bad for  kids, is because it could affect some teens' health. And here are my reasons why ¨studies have shown that Many teens who stay up late texting are not only getting less shut-eye, they’re also lacking  sleep and having trouble remembering from that day into memory.¨ Meaning teens that stay up all night on the phone or texting have trouble remembering things from the day before, which causes them to eventually fail their test or when a teacher asks a question from the day before and they don't know the answer. Another fact is ¨MRI scans found significant differences in the brains of some children who reported using smartphones, tablets, and video games more than seven hours a day. Meaning that kids who sit on the phone, playing video games, etc for more than seven  hours ago have different brain types from kids that monitor their screen time for less than seven hours.  Another essential  point is that screen time can cause “computer vision syndrome.'' The symptoms that come with it are dry eyes, blurred vision, and headaches. For example this shows that being in front of a screen all day can cause teens real life health problems that parents would not want to pay for.

Yet another reason how screen time affects teens is cyberbullying the one thing that hurts certain teens the most. Here studies show that  3,000 students, one researcher found that 38% of bully victims felt vengeful, 37% were angry, and 24% felt helpless. This right here shows how kids feel when they are being cyber bullied and this causes suicidal thoughts, insecurities, depression, trust issues , and unhealthy conditions. Also, ¨Instagram is the social media site where most young people report experiencing cyberbullying, with 42% of those surveyed experiencing harassment on the platform¨. This is another reason why kids should take a break from screen´s, because parents don´t even notice that their kids are being bullied over the internet until it leads to suicide or deppresion. And that is  a reason for choosing to talk about cyberbullying in this essay because this is something that teens should be aware of and always think before they talk about somebody elses kid.  To sum it all up it is shown from studies that too much screen time affects your sleeping habits,  ability to be able to remember things from the previous day, and it limits your ability to carry on your conversation which limits your language skills. Secondly Its shown from studies that too much screen time can affect your health it causes cronic neck, obesity, strain to eyes, and weakend emotional judgement. Thirdly, ¨studies have shown that 32% of teens say someone has spread false rumors about them on the internet, while smaller shares have had someone other than a parent constantly ask where they are, who they’re with or what they’re doing (21%) or have been the target of physical threats online¨. Which means kids are scared to tell their parents about what happens online to the point where they just stay quiet until it all goes away. In addition to all of this, Children need to be restricted on-screen time due to the fact that an awful lot of it can have an effect on social development, it can have an effect on one’s health, and because of the dangers of cyberbullying. In addition  to all of this,  teenagers should take a break from theirs phones atleast a couple of times a day,so that you would not have to worry about anything that was written on this paper happening to you. In to conclusion to all this, teens need to take resposibitly, and take a break from their phone atleast one time a day so that their body´s and brain can function right.
