In houses all over Australia children are putting aside books and immersing themselves in technology but what is so good about technology anyways? Books are a crucial part in one’s life as they allow you to express imagination and you feel as though you are there, and it is some sort of fictional reality. There are so many different types and genres of books so if you haven’t found one you like yet there is always a book for you, you just have to be patient. Read on to find out why reading is essential in the development of young children.

Firstly, you must certainly agree that reading is essential in the development of children as it promotes imagination as allows them to explore worlds other than our own like in the lion the witch and the wardrobe four kids travel to this imaginary world named Narnia. Reading books is crucial as children have the urge to explore and find out new things so what better way to do this than to immerse yourself into a book.  Are you foolish enough to think that children can live without books and the power of imagination.

Secondly, you must unquestionably agree that reading is essential as it helps sharpen and enhance your brain mind and body it can lower your heart rate, help stress, improves your memory  and improves sleep and those are just a few of the wonderous benefits that reading has on your mind and body. This is important as reading is healthier for kids than being on technology as technology emits blue light making you feel more awake, but books calm you down and lower stress as you are immersed into a stress-free world. Do you really think that being kept awake because you have been exposed to technology is healthy for you?

Furthermore, you must undeniably believe that everyone should read books as they allow us to feel empathy and place us into the characters shoes and feel what they are feeling and understand it like in the book like wonder when August a boy with craniofacial differences has to place himself in others shoes to see how they feel about being friends with kids that look different. This is significant as children need to learn this important life skill to be able to help and console friends and family when necessary. It is appalling to think that if not able to empathise children would become emotionless little beings.

Finally, you must undoubtedly concur that everyone should read books as they allow us to build and expand our vocabulary like in Harry potter it has so many unknown words which you find out meanings to it is estimated that every book you read increases your vocabulary by at least 30 words and per year it is estimated that your vocabulary increases by up to 7,000 words that is crazy. This is important as children need to build a good vocabulary to excel at life and get good grades as well as being able to impress family and friends with words that are well above their years. Imagine a world where children didn’t read, their vocabulary would be very limited, and they would not have very good grades or excel in life very much.

To  you must definitely agree that all children should read books as it allows them to have a sense of imagination, display empathy and build your vocabulary so now it is your turn pick up a book and immerse yourself into this fictional reality if you haven’t found the right genre or book keep looking there are over 30 genres and around 150 million books that have ever been printed so as  Dr. Seuss says “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
