I chose Alcoholism because it is a very serious plague in the modern-day world. Alcoholism is the addiction to consuming alcohol and having a dependency upon this substance. It’s a liquid that impairs your vision, judgment, and reflexes. Alcoholics tend to spend a significant amount of their money on alcohol and went they are incapable of consuming it they tend to lash out and do things they would regret. I chose this topic because it hit close to home, some relatives suffer with this terrible plague. People who suffer from addiction to alcohol tend to develop health problems related to liver, high blood pressure and brain.

This disorder affects many people. It affects the people who experience it, friends and family members, and the alcohol industry. The family of the experiencers must deal with the way they lash out and the side effects. Sometimes when alcoholics need money for more alcohol, they will go beg family or friends for money or they will resort to stealing. The alcohol industry benefits from alcoholics because they consume so much alcohol and the industry profits from it. A percental of alcoholic's drink and drive causing accidents and harming themselves and others. Social media produces this idea that drinking is fun and cool which causes people to try it out and some to become addicted.

This issue relates to moral decision making and sin. The Bible advises against heavy drinking because of all the consequences and sins it leads to. Desiring something to the point where you cannot live without it, is worshiping it and that is breaking the ten commandments, “You shall have no other God before me”. Alcoholism relates to moral decision making because when you know that drinking too much is bad and you still do it you show that you do not care about what the outcome will be and that you are not thinking ahead critically on how it will have impact on your future. They act and do not think. They do not resist the temptation to drink.

Some actions and solutions that can be taken are seeking help through rehab, family, friends or support groups. Having a significant other help stop consuming and be a constant reminder is also an idea. Finding alternative addiction like hobbies: Golfing, reading, watching tv, talking to someone etc. Are all ways to cope with this addiction. Some alcoholics find comfort in confiding with recovering alcoholics because they have understanding on the situation and personal experiences with it.

In conclusion, addiction to alcohol is not good and we should help people struggling with this seek help and repair relationships.
