Animal Farm by George Orwell is a thrilling book about the Russian Revolution. Multiple similarities pop up in the book about the Russian Revolution. Many important events happened in the book and many important characters. The dogs from Animal Farm are extremely similar to the Russian secret police. Although the dogs from Animal Farm and the Russian secret police are different, they share similarities in that they enforced rules, executed their enemies, while they have similarities there is a difference, the Russian secret police were border guards. 

The dogs and secret police used many tactics to enforce their rules.  The dogs were used to enforce the rules of the farm if a rule was broken the dogs growled or attacked. “At this, there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws.” The dogs were used for fear and to make sure that no animal breaks rules or else punishment. The secret police enforced rules just like the dogs.  The secret police would harm or kill people if a rule was broken. “700,000 executions from 1935 to 1939”. The police would also arrest people. About 1 million people were arrested for rule-breaking and 700,000 killed. The Russian secret police are extremely similar to their actions against rule-breaking. 

The dogs and Russian secret police executed many of their enemies. Napoleon used his trained dogs to chase Snowball off the farm. The dogs would also try to kill other animals. The dogs would attack Boxer and when the hens refused to give away their eggs the dogs killed many of the hens. “The dogs saw to it that these orders were carried out. For five days the hens held out, then they capitulated and went back to their nesting boxes. Nine hens had died in the meantime.” Another example is 4 young pigs complained about Napoleon taking over the farm. The pigs were executed as quickly as possible. Just like the dogs, The secret police executed many of their enemies. The secret police executed many people and their rivals. “The result is the first comprehensive survey of the NKVD men responsible for carrying out Stalin’s “Great Terror” of 1937 and 1938, in which about 1.5 million people were arrested and 700,000 shot.” The secret police also didn’t like people who looked suspicious or complained about the government. The dogs and Russian secret police would execute their enemies or suspicious-looking people. Although they have similarities there are differences. 

The secret police were border guards and the dogs were used as security. The dogs were used as security and to keep everyone in shape and prevent rule-breaking. The dogs in Animal Farm were used as security. Dogs were used to keep everyone in shape and to make sure no one would break rules. “ Four young porkers in the front row uttered shrill squeals of disapproval, and all four of them sprang to their feet and began speaking 

at once. But suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep, 

menacing growls and the pigs fell silent and sat down again.” The dogs would growl or attack if an animal was breaking the rules or was doing something suspicious. The Russian secret police were border guards. The Russian secret police were border guards. The secret police had border guards to navigate ships and allow people into their country. “Their duties included repulsing armed incursions into Soviet territory; preventing illegal crossings of the border or the transport of weapons, explosives, contraband, or subversive literature across the border; monitoring the observance of established procedures at border crossing points; monitoring the observance by Soviet and foreign ships of navigation procedures in Soviet territorial waters, and assisting state agencies in the preservation of natural resources and the protection of the environment from pollution.” There were around 230,000 border guards. The guards hovered around 63,000 km of land. Dogs and secret police have their differences, The dogs were used as security while the secret police were border guards. 

In the story, Animal Farm the dogs and secret police had multiple connections. Dogs from Animal Farm are very similar in many different ways. Dogs from Animal Farm and the secret police did many similar actions like enforcing their rules and executing their enemies. Although the dogs were used as security and secret police were border dogs.
