In America, many people face bullying at some point in their lives from childhood to adulthood. Despite different circumstances that would prevent bullying, it still can happen to even the most popular person. I believe that bullying is a major problem in society due to it being inescapable by many despite their age. School, work, and online are all different environments have a heavy effect on a person’s life. It is hard for people to escape bullying due to people being bullied at school, work, and online.

First, one of the primary settings students are bullied in is school. Many adults faced bullies while in school as students today face bullies at school. A study from the National Center for Educational Statistics stated that one of every five students reports being bullied. Rumors, insults, and physical harm are a few of the most reported ways students are bullied. When students are bullied in school, they are bullied for one-third of their day, every day. This can have an effect on a students performance and attendance in classes.

Although bullying in school is one problem, bullying at work is a problem that is also very serious. Bullying in the workplace, also known as having a hostile work environment is a major problem for adults and teens who are simply making a living. Discrimination due to race, gender, orientation and/or religion are what makes a work environment toxic and leads to people not being able to effectively do their job. Bullying in the workplace can also lead to legal action, physical and mental health risks, as well as increasing the likelihood of a high turnover rate. 

The final place people can be bullied, which comes as a surprise to most, is their home. Today social media is used as a tool for bullying for all ages, races, and genders. There are many reports on the lasting impact bullying has on a person. It is easy for a bully to target someone online due to them being able to create a fake profile, and they can comment or message anything they want. Not only that, rumors and insults are circulated more quickly online than by mouth. If a person faces bullying everywhere they go, they have no place to go to feel safe. 

Bullying at school, work, and home induces the most excruciating feeling a person can feel. When a person is bullied every time they interact with others, they become very withdrawn, self-conscious, and depressed. It is human nature to want to give and receive love, and to want to be accepted so when someone deals with this it causes severe trauma. Bullying is a very serious problem that needs to be settled for future generations.
