The LDS Church is to blame for the increased number of youth suicide in Utah. Utah is known for its abundance of LDS churches, caucasian missionaries walking around in suits and ties, and their strict lives governed by “God”. The LDS Church runs the state and places tons of judgment upon people and this video is an example of that. Many flee the Church (LDS Church) because of the hate and judgment they feel from others. No two people are alike. We are born in different ways, share different ideologies, and come from different backgrounds. With such a strict life to follow, some people are born different and are criticized for trying to be themselves. Essentially when one stops doing what the old men tell them to regardless of how they truly feel, they are damned. These men in the video are ¨inspired by god¨ so any message they give is ¨true¨. This TikTok shares different Church Leaders giving quotes that its own Church members are of the devil for being born with LGBT qualities. The main argument gathered from this artifact is that the LBGT youth are a failure in the home due to poor parenting in the house. Its target audience is any person who has received hate or judgement that identifies as LGBT, whether or not they are LDS. It is especially intended for that group of Tik Tok users who have gone through similar traumatic experiences.

I’ve always had a soft spot for animals caged up in mass farming. If they don’t fit the criteria, they are cast out. The “deformed” creatures are deemed not presentable or worthy like the others. They are stuck in a building or cage with no way out. They must escape which is nearly impossible or live a sad life. Oh how this relates to people today. In the Church, the members are in the cage. They do what they are told. Sometimes things happen and certain people end up looking or acting differently which stirs up the owners. These creatures endure major emotions as their whole life is tossed around for something they can’t control. Emotions are like sails on a boat. They are the single thing that guides us throughout life. Our emotions are reflected by the things we do, see, and hear. Our emotions and feelings are what make us ourselves. It can create a monster or an angel within ourselves. This video uses pathos to suggest that people like me are horrible sinful people.

Love is really why life is worth living. When one is forbidden to love, what is life? Like Romeo and Julliet, members of this Church want a happy ever after, but are kept from it. They deem being dead is better than the hardship they will face. Where is the Christian love in that? Where are the messages of hope, peace, and happiness found for people different from the cookie-cutter shape? Their emotions come through while they attempt to use ethos to demand what the truth is and to scold anyone who they are addressing. The music on the Tik Tok makes you think. It is peaceful and calms your soul. With such a violent and malicious message being shared, the music gives hope. It somewhat patterns the flow of how the Church puts out messages with inspirational music stirring emotions as we watch the leaders share horrible and false messages. There is a group of celebrities bringing up these issues with the Church which has spiked the recent Tik Tok videos being made and has made people more comfortable to post. Thus emotions stir because people are getting a grip of the bone-chilling thing going on.

The prophets share that their ethos and logos come from God and that they have received that revelation. Due to the Church's culture, the members believe the authorities are the ethos. They are the law and govern what is right. The Church is run by Authority in and out. A person can receive revelation only for what he is over, whether that be a man’s family, congregation, or higher levels. These men in the video claim we can receive personal revelation but it cannot reflect with theirs. They claim we can talk with God, but it’s only him speaking that matches their message. The members of the Church are only able to receive revelation within a certain boundary. Imagine going on an expedition to find a new island and only searching an area within a foot of yourself. You limit yourself to the whole picture and to what the island has to offer. With the authority limiting God's way of talking, how can one claim it’s true, and that their message is right? This ending of the video poses a question if the “prophets” or leaders talk to god. If they have that authority and show parts of these leaders testifying they do, giving a sense of confusion as teens are being told destructive lies, and their life experiences tell a different story.

The video uses logos to justify that people are born this way (it’s a choice), which isn’t the case. It was shared a few months ago on tik tok which is when there has been a big audience of people who have gone through the same thing sharing their feelings. One can’t simply assume they are the ultimate ethos or logos while it’s just opinions! I don’t think the audience that identifies with LGBT sits well with this message. Besides their logic from revelation, they cannot back up any of their claims. The video did an amazing job of using pathos, logos, and ethos to help the target audience really sink in the message. Like mentioned previously, it follows the pattern of how the Church delivers messages. It has soft music with “inspired words''. It has the words of the prophets delivering messages of “hope”. This time, the message really struck true. The viewer hopes this nonsense will end. Though it might reopen wounds for some, it will definitely remind us of what we are fighting for.
