Essay Sample on Racial Injustice in America

In the past few years there has been a bunch of racial injustices towards people with darker skin colors. A bunch of which are from police and white-colored people. Racism is a very vague topic since it has happened so often. People don’t really know who is racist or not and what is racism. Associations, people and companies also don’t get recognition for putting in measures to stop racism like the CWPA. Racism is summarized by unfairness or hate towards certain races or ethnicities. There is a lot of reasons that there is a lot a racial injustice and hate, so here is a few reasons:

One way of racism being shown has been people and police officers for a while now. Which influenced the campaign: “Black Lives Matter”. Police officers are humans, which mean that they have their own biases which Hoffman et al. states. Not all police are biased towards racism, but they are all biased towards something. Their biases can also block them from doing their job correctly and saving lives. Black people are also in a lot of movies and shows based around crime and bad things like drugs, alcohol, or smoking. Hoffman also states: “Black people are about twice as likely as white people to be killed by police” (Hoffman et al.). The police are sometimes very likely to search a vehicle just because the driver or a passenger is black and sometimes lies about a reason to search a vehicle just because there is a black person. It is also more likely for them to arrest black people just because of their suspected reason. If police officers were fairer, life would be easier for all races, including white people.  Police officer aren’t the only ones who are racist, there are just as many racist people than just police officers, anyone can be racist, even black people can be treated differently because of it.

There are many more types of racism other than police racism, but we haven’t looked at the measures people have gone to end racism in the workplace and community. Many companies, schools, and athletic divisions are taking it into their own hands to try and stop racism. “We condemn racial profiling, race-motivated violence, and other racist actions against anyone, anytime” (Writing program Administration). The writing program administration is trying to also stop racial injustice by saying that they condemn, which the CWPA (Writing Program administration) further states in the letter that they will act against racism to help end it. The CWPA isn’t the only association that is acting upon racism, because there are a lot of sorts associations also acting on it, such as the NBA, MLB and the NFL. The letter from CWPA also tells us, “Within the organization, the CWPA board and officers are initiating a principled, comprehensive re-examination of the organization, focused on enacting diversity; building a truly antiracist, inclusive, and supportive organization; and supporting equitable and just writing programs” (Writing program administration). They are doing this so that they don’t have a very racist community and staff members. The CWPA is taking action against racism as much as possible to help contribute to the end of it. School districts such as the St Johns County School District is also taking actions against it. The News4jax author, Travis Gibson states that “the State Board of Education will consider a rule during a meeting in downtown Jacksonville that would place strict guidelines on the way teachers deliver U.S. history lessons the Tampa Bay Times reported. DeSantis said it’s a move in meant to combat critical race theory.” Which just proves that even the school district is trying to end racism and change how it is taught so that we don’t become racist. 

Overall, Racial injustices have been known ever since America was founded, it was like this to Indians that were native to this area to slaves that we took from Africa. Lots of people are racist and don’t bother to show respect to black people because of their color. Racism is something that people should be informed of to keep people from being excluded from school activities or being hired. Now you can see why racism is such a big injustice of society.
