In 1863, The Emancipation Proclamation took a major effect for the Union during the Civil War. It altered the power of manufacturing deadly technology that eventually became destructive. The Civil War introduced the unraveling of slavery in the Union when they began recruiting black soldiers. Women took part in workforces that shifted vast labor forces.

The Civil War made a major conflict on the way technology has transformed to deadly weapons and was called the first modern war. This development changed the nature of combat and changed American life. In the Emancipation Proclamation Abraham Lincoln states, “And upon this act, sincerely believed to be an act of justice, warranted by the Constitution upon military necessity, I invoke the considerate judgment of mankind and the gracious favor of Almighty God.” (pp.. ) Lincoln made the availability to do what it takes to gain freedom by using weapons. The Emancipation wasn’t primarily a moral issue for Lincoln; it was a military strategy.

The emancipation proclamation made many resolutions that made major effects to slavery .

At the beginning of the war, Lincoln would do anything it took to unite the union by librating slaves and preserving slavery. This Proclamation turned the war from a fight to preserver the Union to a fight to end slavery.  The proclamation announced the acceptance of black men into the Union and at the end of the Civil war many black soldiers fought for freedom. In the textbook “Give Me Liberty, it states, “The Emancipation Proclamation, where enlistment was, for most of the war, the only right to freedom. Here black military service undermined slavery, for Congress expanded the Emancipation Proclamation to liberate the families of black soldiers.”Slaves wanted equality and freedom yet the proclamation changed that when the Civil War movement came forward in 1860.

Throughout history women made many contributions during the Civil War and shaped their rights leading up from the Union. This conflict took many opportunities for Northern women that gave them the opportunities to get an opportunity of financial wealth. Yet it affected some women by having hundreds of women take part in men's labors . During the civil war the suffrage movement came to a halt by Elizabeth Cady and Susan B. Anthony. In the textbook “Give Me Liberty” states, “The suffrage movement suspended operations during the war to devote itself to the Union and emancipation.” (Foner 2020) this marked a turning point towards women when they made a movement after playing a crucial part in the war and being mistreated by Union soldiers.
