In “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka is a short story that teaches some valuable life lessons. There are a few lessons that you can learn while reading this short story. I feel that this story should be included in the 12th grade curriculum because it can teach you to acknowledge how to be grateful for what you have and/or who you are as a person. Also, can make you realize that you do not need to please others to live a happy life, and always look out for yourself.

Being gratified. I know this is a problem that we older people or younger people often do. Metamorphosis can help you come to the realization that you should be grateful for everything you have and everyone you have in life. Simply because you never know what can happen in a split second or even over a long period of time. Gregor the guy who had it all figured it out, he was a successful traveling salesperson and had the opportunities to travel to all different places to do business. Until one day he had woken up and came to the realization that he had turned into an insect. Crazy right? He turned into an insect overnight. Gregor had also slept through the first train to go to work that morning, so he was late. Gregor then became very isolated because he had lost everything he ever worked for, he could not be a traveling salesperson when he is now an insect and cannot even speak to people. This is where the reader can think to themselves that in a blink of an or even during the night when you are sleeping peacefully something can change in your life and you can never know what it is going to be. As a person we cannot predict what the future holds, and we do not know what can happen in a split second. So, this right here is why everyone needs to learn to be and show gratefulness to literally everyone and everything that you have in your life. Never take anything for granted, because you never know when something important to you can be taken.

As you continue to read you begin to understand that you as an individual you should not be letting other people determine how to live your life. If there is a certain way you like to do things or if something specific happened to you that changes your perspective or the way you do things, do not let other people decide what you should do about it. By reading this you see that no one could help Gregor out of this situation, and that he had to figure it all out himself. He did eventually recieve a caretaker who took care of him even though he was in deep isolation due to what had happened to him, so she only got to spend not more than.
