There's a good chance that you have shopped at Walmart, no matter where you're from or where you live. Walmart is a transnational retailer known for its low prices and promised customer satisfaction. One thing that no one can argue about is that Walmart knows how to make money and a lot of it. Walmart has the largest number of employees of any private company in the United States with the number of jobs they offer. Walmart is a hugely successful company making its investors tons of money and providing jobs for American workers. But walmarts has its downsides. Like, harmful plastics used in walmarts packaging are stardily destroying the environment. Even with the best intentions, walmarts fails to pay living wages, steals money from local businesses, and wreaks ecosystems.

Walmart is completely unconcerned about the economic and social requirements of its employees. They formed a union to meet the social requirements of their employees. Walmart, on the other hand, ignores the union’s proposals. Employees are not not being paid appropriately. According to an article published in may of 2019, retail managers earn $175,000 per year, while full time hourly employees get only $14.25 per hour. With that stated, these wages have only increased by 50% in the last three years. Walmart employees make earnings that are obviously below the federal poverty line, and their quality of life is deteriorating as a result. Employees around the world need to be paid fairly, since they provide services that keep the company running.

While most Walmart shoppers are concerned with saving money, they should also consider how the low-cost things they want are made possible in part by environmental harm. Walmart is a practical and reasonable option because it is inexpensive and contains almost everything you need in one location. However, while shopping at Walmart may be convenient, it is probable that it is causing more harm than good. Many of Walmart's packages include harmful materials that are damaging to the environment. Toxic materials are also included in several of Walmart's products. You may make a significant difference by spending a little extra money. You’d be buying safer, higher-end, and more reliable products, as well as supporting a better business/company.

Because Walmart is such a popular company, it is damaging and closing down a wide range of local independent companies all around the world. Because Walmart is a franchise, it is typically less expensive than local or independent businesses, a common example is when locally owned firms can't keep up with larger companies and local customers, leaving local and independent businesses with nothing. In January of 2016, an article was published stating that a small grocery shop and pharmacy, which has been in business for 44 years, had shut down because of financial difficulties caused by larger franchises such as walmart. Local and independent businesses were struggling when covid began, whereas walmart was booming at a time when local firms should have been doing better. Because Walmart is such a large corporation, small businesses suffer financially.

Walmart was created with the intention of doing good. However they fail to pay fair salaries, dispose of walst carelessly, damaging the environment. Economic and social requirements are not being satisfied because they are such a massive organization. Furthermore, smaller enterprises are unable to compete with the low costs. Finally, they disregard their social responsibilities to protect the environment by using toxic products. Walmart can be beneficial to certain people, but it also causes more harm than good.
