Essay Sample: Taking a Chance as the Key to Success
Sometimes, life greets you with a chance, it is your choice to either take that chance or ignore it. Taking the chance could turn out to impact you positively or negatively, the same applies to choosing not to take it. It is important to take a chance because it could provide you with success later in the future, assist in changing a present situation, or the chance might not appear again.
On certain occasions, people may be lucky enough to have the chance to do something that could benefit them. If they choose to take the chance, it could end up leading them to success later, but if they choose not to, nothing would change. The chance could be something like having the ability to start a business and following through with it in hopes of it getting successful in the future. To elaborate this example, let’s say a person has the ability to start a business. They can either take the chance and start it, or they can choose not to. If they end up taking the opportunity at hand to create the business, it can have the ability to grow more and more successful. Eventually when the business does work out, the chance taken will prove to be a good decision that results in success. On the other hand, if the person had chosen to not take the chance, the business would have never been created, nor grown successful. By taking the chance, they are able to achieve something that could change their life.
In contrast to providing people with success in the future, taking a chance can change a present situation. In some unfortunate turn of events, people may often find themselves in a bad position. The bad position could be like homelessness, stuck in debt, or failing something. But when provided with a chance to turn it around, it is important to do so. For instance, Elon Musk’s business, SpaceX was in a bad position, it was failing and he had to do something about it. He was down to his last deck of cards, with only one idea left, he chose to take the chance and follow through with it. The chance he took turned out to serve him right and his failing business was rejuvenated. This shows that his current situation was saved by taking the chance he was provided with. If he had not taken the chance, SpaceX would not be what it is today.
Additionally, somethings might not always stick around and the chance that is provided to you, maybe the only time it is there. To elaborate, if you have a chance to do something such as turning your life around, it is important you take that chance otherwise it may not be available in the future. For instance, Hezron Brown, had the opportunity to change his life around. He was greeted with a woman that was able to reduce his prison sentence. This was practically a once in a lifetime thing, he did not realize this at first but afterwards he realized how rare this was and chose to comply. His prison sentence was shortened heavily, and he was able to turn his life around. This shows the importance of taking a chance, the chance he took was a once in a lifetime one. If he had not taken it, it could have not been around later.
In conclusion, when provided with the ability to take a chance, it is important to do so. Taking a chance can lead you to success in the future, change your current situation, or the chance could be your only chance and may not be available in the future. Many people such as Elon Musk, or Hezron Brown have chosen to take the chance and follow through with it have ended up successful, this can apply to normal people such as you or myself as well.
