Essay Sample: What Makes a Good Blog

There are a lot of blogs out on the internet and there are many that are set up perfectly but there are also some that lack the appeal to keep reading. A blog is a website that is frequently updated with new information on a regular basis, it is typically written in a casual tone, and written by a single person or a group of people. Blogs are important because they are an easy way for people to share their ideas, beliefs, opinions, experiences, and other facts in a casual setting. They also can be made up to date constantly, providing new information, and facts. I choose to research blogs about fishing and review all elements of them. I will then take what I learned and noticed from them to make my own blog about fishing using those elements. In this essay I will talk about what I think makes a good blog and what elements make a blog not as enjoyable to read. I believe a good blog is defined by having an easy to read and understand layout of information and by having other forms of information in the blog post. 

An easy to navigate website with easy to read information is very important when making a blog that should be included in every blog. Of the blogs I researched one thing I liked most about them was when they were easy to read and when the website was easy to navigate. I noticed that blogs were easy to read when they spaced out the words and put the most important information in larger text. Another way the blog is easier to read is when they break up the large paragraphs into multiple 2-3 sentence groups. I can use some of these elements in my own blog by taking the most important information and making that larger and I could break up the large amount of information into smaller, more concise paragraphs. One way that I could take these ideas to the next level would be to make a large text sentence that summarizes the main information above the short paragraph that goes more in depth to it. Those things about a blog can enhance the experience to the reader but by making the website easy to use and adding other types of information formats into the blog it becomes a well rounded experience for the reader. 

When blogs have a website that keeps the experience enjoyable and they use other types of media to support their facts it will help the blog overall. During my research I really liked when blogs made their website simple to use and visually appealing. When they had a few pictures, a homepage that isn't crowded, and simple buttons that tell you exactly where they will take you, it made it a lot easier to use and more enjoyable for me to read. I also really liked when blogs used videos and pictures to help show more information than words could. That in my opinion really helped me to understand the information better and made me like the blog more. I can use these elements in my own blog by keeping the website simple and very straightforward and I can also put pictures and videos that are about my topic to help the reader get a visual perspective and add more value to their experience.  Those elements will really help to make my blog better but I also noticed things that made the blog less enjoyable and I will make sure to avoid using them.

From my research I found things that blogs used which made their experience a lot less enjoyable and harder to get information from. I noticed that when a blog has information very close together and large paragraphs it is hard to read and it didn’t make me want to continue reading. This element can also cause readers to skip over the large paragraphs when they are looking for a simple one sentence answer or they could leave the website if they don’t want to read it. In my blog I can avoid this problem by making the most important information stand out from the rest and limit the size of my paragraphs. Another way the blogs are less enjoyable is when their website is bland or very confusing to navigate. When websites have a lot of buttons and they lack color and photos it can make the website less appealing to use for many people. That will then cause you to lose readers. On my blog I can make this better by making a simple website that is easy to navigate and adding photos and a good color theme to make it visually appealing. With the use of short easy to read paragraphs, photos and videos, a good website theme my blog will be enjoyable to read for anyone whether they like the topic or not. 

Good blogs have components that make the readers experience more enjoyable by using a good layout, short paragraphs, and other types of media. Good blogs include short paragraphs, photos, vidoes, and an easy to use interface. Bad blogs have long paragraphs, no distinguishing of the main information, and a bland website. To make a blog the best it can be you need to use short paragraphs and make the main information stand out. You also need to make the website easy to use and incorporate photos and videos to help show the topic in a better way.
