People demanded and fought for change during the American revolution because they were tired of being oppressed by a government they have no representation in and are constantly oppressed by a government that  did not try to help the people of its colonies and continuously oppressed them.

One reason people demanded change was because of the intolerable acts  that were forced upon them by the British crown. The intolerable acts was taxes on goods made by the Americans and was a way to have the British control the Americans which made the american unhappy because some of these products were daily necessities which they needed this all happened because of the end of salutary neglect, one of the intolerable acts were the quartering act which forced the colonist to house british soldiers in their homes and feed  them the made colonist unhappy and had a problem with the soldiers  which caused the boston massacre . A war veteran Levi Preston believed that the colonie should be able to lead themselves without any other interrupting them and should just be a solid nation. In his document he states “ we always have governed ourselves ,and we always meant to.” When he states the quote it  shows that the people of the American colonies cannot be controlled by anyone else but themself and they should always be in control and not be controlled by someone else This relates to the thesis because the colonists that live in the colonies should have their own rules and not just be forced to comply with whatever rule is forced onto them.

Another reason the American people demanded change was because they wished to gain independence from the British who taxed them without representation. The colonies wanted freedom from the british because they were taxed by people who could not represent them and forced them to trade with them, the british blocked off all colonies trade and forced them to trade only with the british crown  meaning that  the colonies were unable to gain money and could not pay off the taxes that were forced upon them and they didn't gain anything back from them the british continually oppressed them and only saw the colonies as a  mean for money and wealth and did not help develop the colonies or its people and did not protect them from adversities. In the Declaration of Independence the people of the colonies states the thing that the british crown has don to them and more reason as to why they need their freedom . in The DOI it states “ England has imposed taxes on us without our consent.” This evidence supports my thesis because the colonies were forced to pay for stuff that they did not have to because of a government that just controlled but did not encounter the same issues.

The final reason for why people demand change were African slaves who wanted to be free and gain the ability to live for themself without having to be anybody's property. Black people were the main labor source in the colonies meaning they were restricted and oppressed by everyone and wanted freedom for themselves and their children as promised by the declaration of independence who say all men are equal and free and that they want to be free also and live their own happy lives. After the declaration of independence a group of balck slaves from Massachusetts came together to craft a petition that asked for their freedom as well as their childrens .In the petition it states “ All men and our children … may not be heard as slaves''

This evidence supports my thesis that people demand freedom to be free from prejudice and should be free without the restriction of others in their lives .

In conclusion people demanded change because they wished for freedom , the ability to govern themselves and wish to be represented in a government that ncact rules and laws upon them so they wish to form their own land for opportunities people should fight if the government is oppressive.
