The ending of pregnancy by the removal of a fetus or an embryo is known as an abortion. In medicinal terms, abortion is considered one of the safest procedures. It is even said that childbirth is far more dangerous than an abortion and risks the life of the mother. There are two kinds of beliefs in abortions, pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life believes that an embryo can feel emotions and we have no right to end its life. Pro-choice believes that only the mother can decide what happens with her body. Women should have a choice in abortions because it could increase illegal procedures, they could die from childbirth or by miscarrying, and foster care is already overly crowded.

Women who are declined to get an abortion tend to do unsafe procedures. Around 7 million women are hospitalized after unsafe abortions. Today, you could face legal actions for miscarrying or ingesting an abortion pill. For example, a 19-year-old almost died after ingesting 1.5g of quinine in a self-abortion attempt. There have been 70 cases of attempted quinine-induced abortion that resulted in three abortions and eleven maternal deaths. Women die because the government puts heavy restrictions on abortions and expects the woman to continue with the pregnancy. In some parts of the world where abortion is illegal, botched abortions cause 8-11 percent of all maternal deaths, or about 30,000 women a year. In Brazil, it is estimated that 250,000 women are hospitalized from complications of self-induced abortions.

Suppose you return home one day and find a stranger in your living room, peacefully eating the ham sandwich that you saved for dinner. You would be tempted to throw him out on the street. Almost anyone would agree that you have the right to eject him. Or if someone broke into your house and started stealing your things, you have the legal right to harm them because they are on your property. If a human being can kill another human being, based on law, why can’t a woman do away with a non-breathing fetus? The government has set up a system where you can murder a breathing human, but could face jail time for terminating a non-breathing fetus.           https://www.thecrimson.com/article/1979/10/25/the-pro-choice-argument-pthere-are-those. After all, abortions in this world are looked at as if they are murdering a child. When in fact, it is not a child or human being at all until there is a viable heartbeat. The government will continue to try to force a law that will end many women’s lives. Abortions should be legal because the women who desperately do not want a child, will continue to do unsafe abortions and women will continue to die from it

Worldwide, 303,000 women die from childbirth and pregnancy each year. There are 211 deaths out of 100,00 live births. The death of a woman during pregnancy, at delivery, or soon after delivery is a tragedy for her family and society as a whole. Sadly, 700 women die from pregnancy in the United States alone.  Women go through many things during pregnancy and they can do all the right things and still never be able to see their child. In a pro-life argument, many would say that the baby deserves to live, but without a mother? Many women have complications during active labor or even before and they are rushed to an operating room where they perform surgery with a 19 percent survival rate. C-sections are more dangerous than abortions, there is 1 abortion-related death per 100,000 abortion procedures. A mother who endures 9 months of pregnancy and over ten hours of labor, deserves to live after.

Many women die from active labor for many reasons, severe bleeding, sepsis, infections, eclampsia, obstructed labor, and consequences of failed abortions. If getting an abortion was an option, there would be fewer women dying from childbirth and complications. If abortions were available, there would be time for women to become mentally and physically ready to have a child. A woman who was in labor, refused to give birth because her request for an abortion was denied. She was a 31-year-old dentist, who was raped and went to her local clinic and requested an abortion. She went into labor 9 months later and refused to give birth because she “could not look at her child.” This woman died because the country she lived in, denied her request for an abortion because a man raped her. } {(1) Trends in maternal mortality: 2000 to 2017: estimates by WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank Group, and the United Nations Population Division. Geneva: World Health Organization; 2019.  As a result, many women struggle with the idea of having a child. Whether it’s because they are young or they feel as if they are not mentally or physically ready to have a child. The government should understand those fears and understand that not every woman is capable of having a child.}.

There are over 400,000 children in foster care as of 2021, and 114,546 children are waiting to be adopted. If the government banned abortions, they would be facing a major increase in children in foster care. As of 2020, there are over 400,000 children in foster care and only 114,438 are waiting to be adopted. They yearn to call one place home, but unfortunately, they will most likely experience over 15 homes by the time they are 18. Many children who turn 18 become homeless because they have nowhere to go after they turn 18. Since the majority of people who get abortions live in poverty and the number of children who enter the foster care system comes from families living in poverty, it stands to reason that the foster care system would be overly populated. As an increase, this would dramatically decrease the chances of more children getting the option to have a happy and healthy life.

Before the government chooses to ban abortions, they need to start advocating adoption more and making it clear that there are children in the world who need a home and have no place to call home. In addition, many foster parents, as well as parents and guardians, of special needs children struggle. They tend to damage their development and growth because they unsuccessfully find places to help them learn how they need to learn. We also need to consider that 75% of children in foster care become pregnant. Many women choose to abort the child so their child doesn’t have to go through what they did. But many women keep their children because they are the only family they’ve ever had.

{https://soapboxie.com/social-issues/What-Needs-to-be-Done-before-Banning-Abortions}. {Instruction→ Briefly, a child shouldn’t have to suffer because a mother was not offered the care that she needed. Banning abortions would make more children suffer and most of these children will have mental health issues because of their experience through foster care. They will suffer because the government would rather children suffer than to never be born.

Finally, the government should have no say in whether or not a woman can have an abortion. It should not be a topic in government policies or laws. Women tend to choose to have an abortion because they do not have their child suffer in the poverty they may be in or the fear of dying before or after the child is born. If a woman was denied an abortion, they could do an at-home abortion and as stated before, illegal procedures are very dangerous. It is a woman’s body and it is her choice.
