In April of 1906, Robert Peary decided he wanted to travel to the North Pole by foot. In April of 2002 Sean Swarner decided to climb Everest with one lung and two deadly diagnoses. In 1967 Perry West was Sent to The Navy at the age of 18 and had some rough experiences. Robert Peary, Sean Swarner, and Perry West were all very courageous men and were choosing to be courageous

Courage is being brave by facing a fear that you have or conquering something. Courage is a good thing to have because you will be able to do stuff that some will say is impossible, like stepping foot on Mars or skydiving. But courage isn't just something you do for a thrill or to get famous. Courage is also for fighting cancer or any other diagnoses, or fighting any obstacle that gets in your way mentally, physically, and emotionally. Courage is anything you do that you're afraid of or is challenging. People have the choice to be courageous, but you have to be determined and willing to do whatever it takes for whatever you are trying to fight or do.

In April of 1906 a very courageous man named Robert Peary did what some people told him was impossible. Robert decided he would start an expedition to the North pole on foot. There were many haters that told him he couldn't do it or that it's impossible, but all Robert did was block out the haters and he was courageous enough to start the expedition. You can only imagine what Peary went through during that time. The weather could've been horrific, he could have run out of food. Peary could've stopped at any moment because of all of the challenges he's faced during his expedition, but yet he kept fighting and fighting. Sadly he stopped and was 30 miles short of reaching his destination, but he traveled thousands of miles and he still impressed the world. He was very courageous by doing what people told him was impossible. Robert also went to the navy before his expedition and that was very courageous of him too. We couldn't imagine what he went through on his trip or in the navy (Robert).

At the age of 13 Sean Swarner was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease and at age 16 he was diagnosed with Askins sarcoma and was given fourteen days to live, but swarner was so courageous he kept fighting the cancer and fighting it till it went away and eventually he beat both of the cancers. He is the only person in the world to be diagnosed with both of these terrible cancers. In May of 2002 Swarner decided he was going to climb Everest even after he was diagnosed with two deadly cancers and only had one functioning lung. So Sean climbed and kept climbing and never gave up and he eventually made it to the top of the world. He became the first cancer survivor to reach the peak of everest. He probably went through the worst of the worst climbing Everest after being diagnosed with cancer and has one functioning lung. Everybody probably has so many questions they would ask him if they ever got the chance to meet him. So Sean Swarner was a very brave and courageous man (About).

In March of 1949 Perry West was born he lived a normal life but when he was 18 he got sent to the navy and had to go through basic training which was so exhausting, but that didn't stop Perry because he pushed through and beat basic training and went off into the seas to be on an aircraft carrier. Perry went through some hard times but pushed through. Perry had to do everything on the carrier and it was so loud from all the planes flying on and off he probably got so many headaches but, he spent all day on the carrier helping planes land and watching out for enemy planes. That would not be a fun thing to do, but he got sent home from the navy a few years later and came home to his wife and family. In 2016 Perry's wife had a heart attack and she was rushed to the hospital. She could've died there but she made it out alive and Perry and all of his family were relieved. Sadly in 2018 Perry's wife died because of heart complications. Perry was about to give up but now he pushed through and he's living on his own pretty good and he's gonna keep pushing no matter how hard it gets because he has all of his family and he has God. Perry is still alive today and he is well. He keeps on pushing and pushing so he is very courageous because of everything he's been through.

These three people are very good role models because they show courage from doing things that people think are impossible. They show leadership by stepping up and doing the right thing at the right time. They show determination by trying so hard and never giving up no matter how hard it gets. They all have the urge to fight whatever gets in their way and never give up which is what a good role model does. They have the power to choose what they wanna do and they choose to fight all their battles which is a very good thing a role model does. They never gave up and kept going. It's a good thing for ordinary people to step up and be a role models and to be a leader as well because people need other people's help in the world and might never say it because they are afraid but when people step up they help so many people in the world. If a person is a good example, if they show people integrity, trust, worth, etc they are a good role model. If people inspire people through stepping up and not being afraid people will follow other people and they will be a leader and a great role model.

Robert Peary, Sean Swarner, and Perry West are all very courageous men, and other people don't even have to be a man or an adult to be a role model any person can be a role model at whatever age and whatever gender they just have to choose to step up and be a role model and leader. It's all about choice, and people have the power to choose what they want to do and when they want to do it. Choice is a big thing in the world and people of a choice to be a role model. Robert Peary Traveled on foot to the North Pole. That is thousands of miles away and he did it one foot. Sean Swarner had two deadly cancers and only one functioning lung and still managed to climb the top of Everest and beat both cancers. Perry West lost the love of his life and is still fighting the pain from it and living a normal life and not letting it get the best of him. These three people all chose to be courageous. They had the choice to do the hard things they did and they all did it anyways. Courage is an amazing thing to have but people choose to be courageous. It's all about choice.
