There is so much undiscovered on Earth like plants and animals, and it’s important for a person to explore the unknown because who knows what’s truly out there. Discovering unknown things about yourself when trying new things is also the beauty of exploring. Putting yourself out into the world is one of the hardest things in life, but the risk is worth the reward.

Exploring the unknown of a new sport is a really big deal, not only is it a scary thing to do to yourself, but it’s also making yourself vulnerable to the unknown. Anxiety rises in people when they are in unknown situations and exposing oneself to different environments helps a person adapt more to different environments.  In high school lots of students try out new sports for the first time and love the outcome. Sophomore year I tried out for the Girls Lacrosse team, and it was a really big unknown because I had never played before, but the reward was so worth it. I made new friends that I would have never met if I didn’t take a risk. I was much more active with practice and games four times a week, on top of two-three days of volleyball. When I got to have the experience of trying something completely foreign and new to me, I was so happy that I got to explore an unknown. Most people don’t go outside of their comfort zone, but we as humans need to take bigger risks. With the bigger the risk, the higher the reward.

Another big unknown among all high school students is furthering our education through college. College is a really big topic in society, and is a big unknown for most students because  we are asked to decide what we want to do with the rest of our lives when we aren’t even adults yet. Nobody knows how to become a functioning adult, with a part time job and still going to school, there's no manual to life. College is a really big unknown because you're most likely moving to a new area, potentially across the country or even traveling to a completely different country or continent, talk about a big change to your life. You get to start  developing yourself more, which is already a big unknown, but you also have the task to stay on track with your classes and everything else. After college, you have no clue what you're going to be doing until you get there, but for now it’s just a big unknown that you have to somehow prepare yourself for and hope you did the best you can do.

Exploring the unknown of a new job is also a big deal, because you’re the new person and everything is foreign and new to you. Exploring where you work and understanding how to act professionally is also a new unknown for most. A first job is important because you are finally discovering what jobs you would actually like and what's expected of you. When working at a job everyday you are put into the unknown because you never know what a customer is going to expect from you and it’s an important skill to have because you need to learn how to bounce back and deal with any situation you are put into. This will set you apart from others and putting yourself into the unknown will help you with that.

Exploring the unknown parts of the world isn’t always about finding new species or fossils of dinosaurs, but it can also be about discovering the unknowns of yourself and who you  can become. Discovering unknown ways to deal with situations or who you want to be when you grow up. The world is always developing and changing and there’s always something new to be discovered. Taking risks of discovering, either big or small, is worth it, because no matter what, there will always be an outcome even if it isn’t the one you were expecting. The risk of exploring the unknown is worth the reward.
