Felix Ever After Book Analysis

In the book, Felix Ever After, we meet a boy named Felix and all the love surrounding him. We meet his best friend, his dad, and his group of friends right at the beginning of the book. We see the different interactions between them all, allowing us to see Felix's vulnerability in these relationships and how truly honesty he can be. In the book, Felix has many loving relationships, some romantic, others just friendships and family relationships. He goes through challenges with each one, allowing him to fully understand their relationships as well as their sense of love in the relationship. Showing the challenges of all these relationships allows the reader to see and understand that not all relationships are perfect, but in the book, these are accurate representations of loving relationships.  

Felix Love, A boy who just wants to be accepted and loved. Being transgender, Felix always seems to feel like he does not belong, so trying to find love felt difficult. Felix does not seem to realize he has loved all around. From Ezra, his best friend, to his dad, to his group of friends, he always has someone in his corner. Ezra and Felix, a tale of two queer boys who have been best of friends since the first year of high school. Ezra, a boy who has no idea of where his life is taking him, is Felix’s best friend and protector of all evil. He goes to the end of the Earth for Felix, allowing Felix to feel this affectionate love and care for him. Realizing Ezra is the one to count on. His relationship with Ezra is one might get confused about, they claim they are the best of friends, but will act as if they are in a deep, long, loving relationship with each other.  

Throughout the book, you can tell Ezra’s love for Felix is more than a best friend love. Even after people had mentioned it to Felix, he never seemed to believe that there was something more. Then, one night happened where Ezra kissed Felix, the feelings had spiraled out. Felix was almost denying the love from Ezra and not knowing how to react, Ezra says “you’re always talking about how you want to be in love...Here I am... I love you, Felix. But why am I the only person In the world you don’t want  loving you?.” Ezra confessing is love had to settle with Felix. Felix was constantly thinking about Ezra, even when Felix was dating Declan. He tried to avoid it because Felix did not want to ruin their friendship, but he realized he loved Ezra. Felix did not care about the worst that could happen once he realized this. It took Felix so long to realize Ezra was right, he feared love. When Felix realized he loved Ezra back, he found him at the pride parade and told them. Realizing he could be loved and was loved, he accepted it and embraced who he was. Felix then learned that even though Ezra and his relationship was tricky, it was love, allowing him to understand relationships can be hard, but they are worth it.
