Have you ever been kicked out of the house because of your sexuality? Or have you ever been attacked or even discriminated against by your community, because of your sexuality?  I bet every one of yall in the crowd has been a victim of this or a witness, and this is why you all are here today, to make a change. Being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or even becoming transgender is not a choice-it’s your identity, and many family members and friends can’t accept that. There are so many issues that we people of the LGBTQ+ community still face, and the government has yet to notice and do anything about it, but that's ok, this will soon come to an end. Together we are going to make that change and fight for our rights!, Hi! I’m Cheyenne Parks and I’m an LGBTQ+ activism and I’ll make sure that our voices are heard and that justice will be served.

Following the year 2015, The U.S. Supreme Court makes same-sex marriages legal in all 50 states in Obergefell v. Hodges. This case brought a spark to American, LGBTQ couples in hiding who could finally express their love by getting married and let their love be shown.  Of course, some citizens didn’t approve due to their religion or lack of knowledge, but no one cared how they felt, we were finally free. 5 years of happiness did feel nice, and I’m saying this because I’m pretty sure you all have heard the news. We recently got our new supreme court judge. On September 26, 2020, President Donald Trump announced the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the position of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. And if your not aware Amy Coney Barrett explains that she will be taking away gay marriage. I conducted research on udge Coney Barrett to see what a 2015 ruling she stated,  “I have never discriminated on the basis of sexual preference”. But she used a very offensive word “sexual preference” to describe these in the LGBTQ+ community. “Sexual preference”, is used by LGBTQ+ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice. (IT’S NOT A CHOICE) it's a key part of someone's identity. She then went on to say she didn’t mean to be offensive and would never disrespect the LGBTQ+ community.  This goes to support my claim that she is discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community and that we must have change.

I have collected data and percentages from facts and information about how people of the LGBTQ+ community are treated. I saw that those who are placed in a foster home find an unwelcoming or hostile environment, and a study on the “New York City Child Welfare System'' reported 78% of LGBTQ youth were kicked out or ran away from their foster home as a result. America’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults (92%) say society has become more accepting of them in the past decade and an equal number expect it to grow even more accepting in the decade ahead. About four-in-ten (39%) say that at some point in their lives they were rejected by a family member or close friend because of their sexual orientation or gender identity, 30% say they have been physically attacked or threatened, 29% say they have been made to feel unwelcome in a place of worship, and 21% say they have been treated unfairly by an employer. About six-in-ten (58%) say they’ve been the target of slurs or jokes. These percentages show how we as a community are not welcome and that needs to be changed, we shouldn’t be judged on our sexuality, we need to be noticed, and not ignored we need to be protected.

We need this to change, you can help be a big asset to this change by donating money to the “HEAR OUR VOICES'', project, the point of the hear our voices project is to get 100% protection from the government and to have more laws being passed to protect us. But the project is more than that, we want to educate and give all the information on parenting and raising a child who is gay or apart of the LGBT+ community, we will also be providing teens with safe ways to come out. Our goal is to have over a million donations so we can create handbooks that state REAL information about the LGBTQ+ community and to provide an understanding that we aren’t the monster you paint us out to be. I already have 5 elected transgender friends who will be sharing their story in our “THIS IS ME !!” book, everyone’s story is different and every single person needs to hear our story and what we have to say. Your donation could save a young teen from being kicked out of their home due to their sexuality, you can save anyone not sure or confused about their sexual orientation, and most of all you can save a person's life from them committing suicide due to their sexuality. Our goal is to educate the world and to be provided with protection and acceptance.
