The film industry has a wide range of genres and meanings. Whether it’s for pure entertainment or to have a strong underlying message directors could have many motives when filming. With this film Fruitvale station, it does an excellent job in showing the reality of some areas in the world while also providing great camera angles, lighting as well as actors.

This movie was a very powerful film. Even though the director ensured to make the film nonpolitical it can still be taken as an informational film emphasizing the caution groups of people have to go through in their day-to-day lives. The actors in this movie were definitely a strong point. Micheal B Jordan who played Oscar executed this film perfectly as if it was actually happening to him. His emotion throughout the film was always on point for example when he was dumping his stash of weed he had a throwback where his mom was visiting him in jail at that scene in the film he was looking into the lake contemplating his choices his facial expressions plus the director's choice of camera angles just match together making the scene that much better. Another example of excellent acting would be Oscar’s daughter Tatiana, a little girl in a film at that age. It should be hard for her to show true emotion but she showed so many emotions so naturally as if she was living in that reality. For example, when Oscar went to pick up Tatianna from school the pure joy that was on her face brought nothing but a smile to my face because he just looked so happy to see her father.

Another aspect of this film that made it worth watching was the portrayal of characters feeling as well as the situation they’re going through. Through the amazing acting of the cast, we could really see the character of the characters throughout the film. Throughout the film, we could easily read him and his character. In the flashback of his mom visiting him in jail, we can see the pure joy on his face regardless of his situation along with when he went to pick up his daughter he was nothing but happy not letting his surroundings affect his relationship with his family. Through Micheal B Jordan's acting we can really see that Oscar wanted to change his life for the better and was realizing that he couldn’t go back to jail. We also see that he still has some bad sides in him we can see it come out when he threatened his old manager for not giving him a job back.

Another reason why this film was worth watching was the way the director arranged the film. He put a blurry camera recorded video of the Bart situation with no context at all. In the movie, we see the characters introduced and the build-up to the murder. This kept the watcher thinking about how and when does this movie build-up to that situation and the director does a great job of mimicking the scene recorded on the phone perfectly as well as putting emotion into it for example when Oscar said “I have a daughter” over and over before being and after benign shot.

This film Fruitvale station was a film that deserved all the rewards it received. The film was directed to perfectly copy that of the real situation and to really emphasize the story of Oscar’s life. This film shows how racism was and still is prevalent today and everyone should definitely watch it at least once.
