Germany should not get fully blamed for WWI. WWI was one of the deadliest wars ever recorded killing over 16 million soldiers. The 2 major powers were Central Powers and Allied Forces. Germany who was part of the Central Powers got blamed for the war because they were the first Superpower involved in the war. Germany should not get blamed for WWI because of the money on war by the nations, the Fourteen Points, and the Treaty of Versailles.

The amount of money spent on war by Germany is similar to other European nations. Before the war, the countries spent lots of money on it. According to Document 7, All the European countries put together spent 1 billion 778.8 million dollars on the war in 1913 drastically increasing from the year before. Now all the European powers spent money on the war in order to get leverage for war because they knew it was inevitable. The European powers spent in total a ton of money on the war so it means that Germany fully gets blamed as every other European did so as well.

Woodrow Wilson’s Fourteen Points were so that no one country would get blamed for the entirety of the war. Woodrow Wilson who was the president of the U.S at the time made Fourteen Points which the goal was to unite the world and not get a country to get blamed for the war. “There shall be free trade between the countries who accept the peace(Point 3)”. “Colonial claims over land and regions will be fair(Point 4)”. “A League of Nations will be formed that protects the independence of all countries no matter how big or small(Point 14)”. These points state that there would be free trade towards countries that discontinue fighting. The last point states that the independence of the country would be protected at all costs. Germany should not be blamed for the war as the Fourteen Points said that there it will be fair and the world will unite.

The Treaty of Versailles blamed Germany for the war. The Treaty of Versailles ended WWI as it was an article that blamed Germany for war. According to Document 12, Article 231 blamed Germany for the war. Also, Article 181 made Germany get rid of their submarines, losing out on 6 battleships, 6 light cruisers, 12 destroyers, and 12 torpedo boats. The German naval force lost a lot of important weapons just because of Article 181.

However, some people might say that all the European powers voted Germany to get punishment for the war. This is not true as the Central Powers were forced to vote against Germany from treats from Allied Forces. Germany does not deserve the blame for WWI because Article 231 and 181 go against Germany as the rest of the Allied Forces voted against Germany.

Germany should not receive the blame for WWI.
