In recent years, gun control has become one of the most controversial topics all throughout the United States.  With the controversy comes the question: Do guns kill people or do people kill people? Many Americans believe that guns do not kill people, instead, people kill people, while other people the exact opposite. Sadly, school shootings throughout America have increased causing over 300 deaths at the hands of an armed shooter in over a year. A poster by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America depicts two young children, one holding an automatic gun and the other holding a book, thus showing their audience the point of view through a mother's eyes.  This poster by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America attempts to encourage the people to push forward towards making gun laws more strict through the emotional theme of school children, a genuine movement, and the logical idea that children are not safe.

This poster appeals to the hearts of the parents all throughout the United States through the portrayal of two young children holding objects: an automatic gun and a banned book as an attempt to make a change in gun laws. Many parents will see a small child holding an automatic gun twice their size in their small hands and immediately have a heart-wrenching feeling in their body. The stern looks on those young kids create an eerie effect on the audience. To have a young child have such a strong look over a top that should have never involved them causes an uproar among parents. People all across the United States know that guns at the hands of the wrong person can cause a major massacre like at the Columbine or Sandy Hook. Those traumatic events in history cause an even greater uproar among people when seeing children with a weapon in their hands. In recent years, the amount of school shootings has increased more and more each and every year leaving many students and teachers as victims of school shootings. Ultimately, this poster appeals to those families who have lost a loved one to a school shooting.

The audience is shown a powerful message through the genuine movement “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America” in order to change the laws. Oftentimes, people are more drawn to women, especially mothers because they are nurturing and trustworthy, therefore more people would be appealed with the very visible word “Moms” in the name of their organization. This genuine group has a visible logo in order to draw attention to their organization, making the audience remember their organization. In addition to their logo, this organization has a website linking to the photograph to encourage their audience to visit the website to get more information on the subject. To ensure the trustworthiness of this group, the group was made by a group of mothers with children of their own who are solely concerned with the safety of their children, wanting to bring awareness to other parents in the United States.

It seems bizarre to think of a children's book,” Little Red Riding Hood” in the category of banned all throughout the United States therefore it gives parents the logical idea that something is clearly wrong further pushing towards law changes. The phrase “We keep the book “Little Red Riding Hood” out of schools because of the bottle of wine in her basket. Why not weapons?” is visible at the bottom of the poster gives the audience the impression that something is clearly wrong in the way things are being run in this country.  For most people, it is hard to grasp the idea that a harmless children's book could possibly be banned in the American school system. A book that many people grew up reading for their children is banned only solely because there is a visible wine bottle in the basket but a gun that has caused many deaths is not. This encourages a call to action among the audience.

Amidst the climate of the past years, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America provides their audience with a heartfelt image to encourage the change in gun laws by appealing to parents' hearts through their genuine “mom” movement and the logical idea that there is something wrong with the United States government. This poster provides a point of view to those who refuse to be pro-gun laws. In a sense, this poster is making an attempt to keep school kids safe through gun law changes.
