I believe… Hard work always pays off. No matter what you do or when you do it, you have to work for something good to happen to you. It is what we have to do if we plan on achieving anything in our life. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. You can accomplish anything if you are willing to pay the price. However, to keep going, remember that perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. Sometimes, we cannot sit back and take it easy all the time, we have to get out there and work for what we want.

As a child, I had no idea of what I wanted for myself in the future. All I knew is that I wanted to be successful, but I was not sure how. I didn't even know how or when to start. But when I was around 9 years old, I was talking to my cousin, who is in medical school, about what it was like in college. He brought up this topic about all the types of doctors and was explaining what they do. There was this one doctor that caught my ear, a neurosurgeon, who is a doctor who operates on the brain, spine, and nervous systems. All out of nowhere, my dream was to become a doctor. Not because I thought it was fun, but because I wanted to focus on helping others regardless of any circumstances, focused on facilitating people leading healthier and therefore happier lives. But also because my grandfather was a doctor, he died when I was eight to nine years old. I wanted to make him happy. I thought for a few days about what I needed to do to achieve my dream. Later on, I figured it out… I needed to get good grades.

I did not really think about it that much, but when I saw all my friends getting good grades, I wanted to too, so I could at the same time make my parents happy.

Later, I started pushing myself too hard by not sleeping or talking to anyone to achieve that goal. Not saying that you shouldn’t work hard, but that you should work hard but also have time to relax or spend time with your family. When my parents found out that I was getting no sleep, we had a little talk. They said that getting no sleep would lead me to be more stressed instead of happy. If you ever work hard, don’t work too hard. Your body will always tell you that you need a break.

A few months passed, and my parents found out about this school called Clear Water Academy. They applied it for me immediately because they heard plenty of good things about this school, and I got in! Fifth grade was my very first year at Clear Water , and all the teachers were extremely nice. I listened to what my parents said about relaxing and not pushing myself , and it worked. I studied well and had a good sleep schedule. And Guess what! I got the principals’ honor roll in my first year! So you see, hard work leads to happiness and success.

You are without a doubt familiar with Vincent Van Gogh. If you are not, here are a few of his paintings that might get your brain thinking, Starry night, or Café Terrace at Night. Those two works of art are very delightful paintings.

But did you know that Van Gogh sold ONE painting in his entire lifetime! Yes I know what you're thinking ,Sharon you must be tricking us, but I am not. One of the best painters I knew only sold one single painting which was the Red Vineyard. Before he died he thought he was a bad artist. But it turns out he was not!

Although no one was interested in buying his paintings when he was alive, Van Gogh continued pouring his heart and his soul onto his canvases. And all that commitment and hard work paid off. After his death, Bernard and Anquetin sold his paintings. They sold probably over 350 - 550 paintings! Van Gogh considered the first one a disaster, while he was prepared to take the second one as a success.

During my art class when I was in 3rd grade I was not really interested in it. Later my art teacher brought up this topic on Vincent Van Gogh, which really caught my eye. She said that he was a painter that only sold one painting his entire lifetime. He worked really hard on his paintings, but only sold one. His commitment and hard work really paid off after his death. When I learned about this painter I was really interested in art after this.

For the most part, hard work and success go hand in hand because life is designed to be tough. Nothing is offered if you ask for it ; which means that I had to keep trying to succeed. In actual sense, there are so many challenges in life that only hardworking people can overcome them. Sleepless nights and over studying are not good. A good night's sleep and having a good amount of study time is way better.
