Relationships have a profound impact on us on so many levels. Relationships with others need to be healthy, respectful, and positive. We all depend on it for our daily lives, and it affects our wellbeing and mental health. Respect means accepting people for who they are - and accepting others for who they are.

Life and relationships are full of conflict - you won't always agree with your friends' beliefs or decisions but learning to respectfully disagree with them is a valuable skill. Different ways of showing respect for others. You need to know what respectful behaviour looks like if you want to have healthy, respectful relationships. Examples of respecting others are given below. Understanding their wants, needs, and point of view is an important part of being a good listener. Be direct and respectful when discussing your wants and needs. Respond to their requests in a timely manner. Reward them for their hard work and let them know you appreciate them. Keep private the details of their lives they share with you. Compare strengths, not weaknesses, when you make comparisons. Be sensitive to their feelings and avoid embarrassment when you use humour. Don't speak behind their back about your concerns, speak directly with them. If they require space, give them some.

Your relationships may not be going well, if you ask yourself these questions:

Is it safe for me?

Am I getting support?

How do I feel about myself?

Are my needs satisfied?

Do my interests matter to them?

How am I supposed to know there's respect in your relationship?

It's safe to be close to each other.

You know you both have the right to express who you are.

When you disagree, you hear yourself and you are patient.

No shouting and no talking overboard.

Neither control the choices made by the other.

Accept that you made a mistake.

Sexual activity can be confusing. People often describe themselves as homosexual, gay, queer, lesbian or SSA (Sexuality Studies Association) when they are physically, emotionally, and sexually attracted to same-sex persons. People who are attracted to men and women frequently say they are bisexual.

However, for those who identify as SSA, there is a strong physical and emotional attraction to the same gender. There is still a great deal of homophobia and disapproval in society, which may make it difficult.  It is not something that should be "healed" or "fixed".  This is just a form of sexuality that - sadly - some people have trouble understanding.

Once you feel certain about your sexuality, you may want to consider telling somebody about it. Telling someone, such as a close friend or your parents, may be an important step for people, but you should only do it when you feel comfortable and willing doing it.

Some people consider it a huge relief for the following reasons:

They don't feel all alone.

It makes them feel accepted.

They no longer need to hide anything or lie to others.

Relationships can be more truthful and open.

They are free and much happier.

To overcome adversity, you must have effective thinking and problem-solving skills. Everyone has negative and positive thoughts, but most people have a balance between the two which allows them to think realistically and solve problems effectively to respond to the challenges of life. Research has shown that people who are depressed or anxious feel differently from those who are in good health.

Many people are poor in time, always rushing to juggle with different commitments. As a result, achieving a healthy work-life balance is more challenging. A good work-life balance allows you to harmonize the different aspects of your life. The benefits gained from each area are able to support and strengthen the others. Many individuals learn how to successfully combine their work and personal life (work-life integration).

Working long hours can affect your health, increase stress, and cut in recreation activities. At the same time, more people are working in part-time, low-wage and precarious jobs, which may also mean non-social work hours.  Flexible hours and working from home can come in handy, especially if you have a family.

Studies show that employment is generally good for mental and physical health and well-being. Work can:

Increase activity and provide a daily routine.

Provide meaning and purpose.

Promote relationships and the sense of community.

Ensure financial independence.
