“Dreams don't work unless you do” is a quote by John Maxwell, and I will always stand by this as I progress throughout my education. Going into high school was a scary situation as I had no one to stand by my side, and to call them a friend. I was lonely, and it really pushed me down to the bottom as I missed my old friends. However, I learned to change and become social with other people without changing my personality. I found those to motivate me and appreciate who I am, and they gave me confidence. They helped me realize that I need to be better myself so those around me can be happier. Growing up without my mom or dad really affected my motivation to move on forward as my biological mother lost custody of me at a young age, while my father was in prison. However, my grandma came into the light to not only save me but motivate me to push forward. At first, I had low hopes to learn most of my family dropped out before high school graduation, but I decided to be the change my family needed. I want to be the first under my last name to graduate with a college degree and move forward with a new look on my family. High school gave me a reason to try hard even with all the past mistakes my family made. Although another hardship I faced as a student was the pandemic, it ruined my learning career and messed with me mentally. It ruined my grades and my ability to learn from the teachers as this was a whole new teaching system. However, I still pushed through and didn’t let COVID-19 push me down. I still passed my final exam and my STAAR exam in those years. I felt like since the pandemic I missed out on many opportunities and realized how much I missed out on academically. I realized that the reason we learn is, so we can create opportunities for those in the future. I want my family to be proud of who I am and make everyone around me happier. Never have I blame anyone for my current high school status or my actions. The only person I resented was myself for not trying harder and becoming a model student for those around me. Regardless of that fact I still am happy for how far I have progressed and changed for the better. I always kept looking back on how I was academically and decided to look forward. However, it might have been sort of a late realization that my effort was still shining and kept me ready to move on to the future of my learning career. In the beginning I knew I needed a change of mindset for high school. I just didn’t know where to begin till I had that boost of motivation and confidence. I thank those who’ve helped me to be mindful of what I can become and what I am passionate about. I will always stand by them and let them know they’ve helped me know that I have to work hard to achieve my dreams. I will always be kind to those in need because I now know myself how much it matters to others. Just a bit of motivation helped me get through a rough four years of obstacles. In the end, I tell myself to work hard for my dreams and those around me.
