Every time a nation gets involved in wars, there are painful repercussions. War is associated with massive loss of lives, destruction of property, psychological problems, loss of close family members and friends, and disabilities. During World War II, many countries were involved in the war, some countries helping other countries to conquer their enemies. World War II triggered the nations to use massive destruction weapons of war, which were against the negotiation created after the First World War. In the First World War, soldiers used deadly chemicals and gases like chlorine, which left many people injured and others dead. This was highly prohibited, but the United States seems not to side with that agreement. Always any time there is war, there are terms that are agreed on how the war shall be fought. This paper shall deal with the question, was using an atomic weapon on Japan in 1945 justified, and the reason for dropping the bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

During the Second World War, Japan remained the most terrifying nation among other nations. The U.S. at that moment was neutral and was not engaged in the warfare at the beginning. Japan had threatened the U.S. and was planning on how to attack the United States, which would cause too many casualties in America. Since the war started, there has never been any use of a massive weapon of war that could have much impacted other countries, including Germany. They started involving themselves in adding more energy into their machine to come up with a supper war weapon, but they failed (rank History, 6 July 2018). Americans engaged their highly skilled scientists in developing an atomic bomb. And although Truman went on the radio explaining where this atomic bomb was being targeted (Reason against dropping the atomic bomb-Argument #36) he seemed not to understand the severity of an atomic bomb and the destruction it was going to cause. This atomic bomb was targeted to destroy Japan so that they can surrender. The president and the commanders of war in Japan have warned the Japanese against surrendering, and they were ready to die fighting. The main aim of dropping that bomb was to save American lives. If the bomb was not dropped in Japan, the operation that was already planned by the Japanese about invading America would succeed and left many dead.

The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki acted as a catalyst to shorten the period of war. Japan was not giving up easily, and the more the war continued, the more destruction was formed. Even Japanese civilians were ready to persist in fighting back, no matter the situation or the circumstances associated with the war (“The Decision to Use the Atomic Bomb: Arguments in Support - History”). After the bomb was dropped in Japan a few days, the commander and president called for surrender, since the bomb had weakened Japan more than 90 percent. Japan had been left with no other strength to continue fighting. In Hiroshima, of a resident civilian population of 250,000, it was estimated 45,000 died on the first day, and a further 19,000 during the subsequent four months. (Another figure is 78,500 fatalities, with 5 to 15% of the short-term ones being from radiation.)

The bomb was payback for Japanese barbarism. They used to capture soldiers and torture them with no mercies. Some would die, others live with starvation due to insufficient food. They captured women and raped them mercilessly, executing the civilians' lives and direct forcing others to be their sex slaves. The bomb sounds like payback for what they were doing to other nations.

According to my understanding, the use of two bombs was not justified. This is seen even after the end of the First World War, which there was a meeting which was aimed at prohibiting using atomic weapons or any other war weapon, which may cause massive destruction. It is even against the United Nations principles for countries to have the weapon of mass destruction and to use them against other nations. Again, that was being inhumane, since many people lost their lives, including innocent children, who had no idea what was happening. Although Japan was persistent in war, it has defected more times, hence America could have used another way apart from that. The U.S. could've waited before using the bomb, since they had known Russia had declared war against Japan a week after they had dropped the bomb. The National League of Nations is against weapons of mass destruction, as agreed in 1938.

The result of any war is terrifying, since no positive outcome came from this destruction. Some groups or nations involved in the war want to prove to be the best, therefore, many people will have lost their lives and properties destroyed beyond recognition. In the case of the war, people should agree on how it will be fought and the condition to which extent it should go. If we consider the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, we can deduce that some acts are animosity. The best situation is to set peaceful negotiations with other countries to avoid such outcomes as witnessed in Japan. So I finish this paper still with the same view the Atomic Bomb that destroyed many lives was not justified, and with more knowledge that President Truman should've digged a little deeper into what type of effect an atomic bomb can cause a nation.
