When you think of the word airplane, you probably think of the modern technology that changed the lives of people all around the globe. The first successful airplane was flown by the Wright brothers in 1903. That was over a century ago! When the flight was discovered, hope was given for a new future. Airplanes are the most important creation during the 20th century because they opened jobs, boosted the economy, and made transportation faster.

To start off, the airplane is important because it unlocks opportunities for people.  This opened the chances for jobs, services, businesses, and more. One example of a job created is being a pilot. The plane was used for communication, too. The plane was also used for times during wars (for example, the Berlin Airlift) and trade.

Secondly, the successful aviation was a crucial part of the 20th century because it contributed to economic growth. More planes were being made, and more businesses manufactured planes and products designed for plane travel. The global air transport industry is larger than the automobile industry, studies show. This means that aircraft makes more profit than the automobile!

Additionally, the aircraft made transportation faster. Transportation to go to far places was now available to everyone. People were able to travel across the globe, and even set records. Let's say, for example, that you had your family all the way in South Korea, but you lived in the United States. If you were to visit your family for the holidays, you would need to find a way to get past the lands and oceans. Bam, this is where the airplane comes in. It can safely get you from point A to point B!

In conclusion, I believe that the airplane was the defining artifact of the 20th century because they gave job opportunities, boosted economic growth, and made traveling faster. The next time you see an airplane, you might now think of its history and advantages. A whole new future has now become a reality.
