Not too long ago, many places, jobs, were forced to shut down including schools due to a virus spreading. And since the schools are shut down, students are forced to adapt to a new learning set up. But adjusting to something you’re unfamiliar with is never easy, hence the reason why students are stressing and losing motivation.  Because getting used to something new is a process that takes time for as it doesn’t happen overnight.

Students don’t really have that much of a choice but to learn to adapt in this new system. And to welcome something different from what you’re used to is not easy and might take a long time. I think that’s why students are having a hard time with their online classes, It’s not something they’re used to doing. Everything changed and happened so fast it’s frustrating and stressful. Honestly, my mental health hasn’t been the best and the pandemic’s sudden appearance wasn’t a great help. I mean the pandemic itself is worse and everyone is also struggling, but I think it seriously made things more difficult for me than it already is. Sure, attending school at home is great  because I don’t have to actually be in school. And I don’t mind staying at home but for the times that I actually do, I’m forced to suck things in no matter how much the thought of not being able to go outside whenever I want bothered me so much. Because when an unpleasant situation occurred here at home, I can’t go out and recollect my thoughts. It affects my performance in school and I lose the motivation and will to study. I get distracted and drown in my feelings which always leads to overthinking. I hate it when I get thoughts telling me I didn’t do enough in school today and such. So I try to be active when I can but it’s so hard to force yourself when your mind is so unwilling.

To sum everything up, online class affected learners' mental health greatly in a bad way. They’re not used to going to school virtually, they’re used to being outside and studying in an actual school and talking to people personally. So when they took online class, most of them felt lost and unmotivated. Some even procrastinated more because of it. The feeling of being stuck at home, forced inside with strict instructions of to not go around interacting and making human contact with people has been quite a challenge. Because the virtual interactions doesn’t always satisfy the urge of actually talking to people face to face, like studying in a classroom next to your classmates and not alone back at home where almost anything is a far more greater distraction.
