Incomplete Love (Romeo And Juliet Analysis Essay)

The forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet, how long will they be able to retain their love secretively? Romeo is a dramatic hopeless romantic that falls in love with a younger girl. Juliet is an independent young girl who becomes lost in love. She is faced with situations in addition to making decisions on what she never experienced. As they fall in love they realize the conflicts that are caused if anyone finds out the young Capulet girl fell in love with a Montague. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet develops from a pure, obedient young girl to a lost, rebelious, and depressed to the point that she commits suicide because of her love for Romeo. 

In the beginning regarding the story Juliet is introduced as innocent, independent, and obedient. “I’ll look like I'm moving. But no more deep will I end my eye. Thank your consent I/ gives strength to make it fly”, (Act 1 scene 3) as she is talking to Lady Capulet about marrying Paris, Lady Capulet is encouraging Juliet to marry him. Portraying that Juliet will try to fall in love with Paris however she will not force herself.  This exhibits that Juliet respects herself and does not want to make another person fall in love with her if she does not have interest. In a conversation between Romeo and Juliet, Romeo holding her hand he says, “Romeo: Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?” Juliet: Ay, Pilgrim, lips that they must  use in prayer.” Implying that Romeo is trying to kiss Juliet by making her feel safe and not a sin comparing it to saints. Juliet responds with, “that saints use those lips to pray.” (Act 1 scene 5) Demonstrating she is religious and likes being obedient to her religon, an innocent girl. To add on to my claim, Juliet and the Nurse are having a conversation she states, “Prodigious birth of love it is to me, That I must love a loathed enemy.” (Act 1 scene 5) Juliet is claiming how she wished she never fell in love with her enemy. Juliet is new to the world regarding love considering how she is handling each obstacle. Juliet is innocent and new to the feeling peculiar to being hurt when you’re in love. Following on with the constant conversations between Romeo and Juliet, Juliet starts falling in love with Romeo. Romeo demonstrates affection towards Juliet that she may have never had from a boy causing her to become obsessed with him.

Moving into Act 2 and 3, Juliet starts to warm up to Romeo with his flirtatious moves and becomes overly obsessed with Romeo. In act 2 Juliet proclaims, “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo Deny thy Father and refuse thy name. Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And i’ll no longer be a capulet.” (Act 2 scene 2) Juliet is proclaiming her love for Romeo to him and saying what she has to do in order to be with him. She says she would alter families. Juliet starts to shift as she is becoming more obsessed with Romeo as a result of love. To continue from act 2 Juliet additionally states, “Well, do not swear. Although I joy in thee I have no joy in this contract tonight.It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden, too like lighting, which doth cease to be.” (Act 2 scene 2)  Juliet is implying that even if she loves Romeo so much she hesitates about marrying him due to everything happening too quickly. This means Juliet still has the obedient girl she was in the beginning as she hesitsats and thinks about everything happening too fast even if she was in love with Romeo. 

During Act 3 a conversation between the Nurse and Juliet, the Nurse who came in shouting Romeo is now dead and in a state of panic Juliet poured out her love for Romeo. She states, “O, break my hear, poor bankrupt, break at once! To prison eyes ne’er look on liberty. Vile Earth, to earth resign. End motion here, And thou and Romeo press on heavy bier.” (Act 3 scene 2) Juliet pouring her heart out for her love for Romeo as she is saying her body and Romeo will lie together in a coffin she is concluding they will forever reside together. The way she utilizes the words to express that her heart is bankrupt, sending her eyes to prison, and she will give her vile body back to earth demonstrates her love and obsession over Romeo. Now that Juliet built up so much obsession over Romeo she would do quite anything to be with him. Even if that means violence or even putting her life on the line. 

Her obsession over Romeo is causing her to become lost in emotions. She reflects someone who is mentally lost. Rebellious toward her family and overall in a state of depression that feels impossible to get out of. In the beginning of scene 4  Friar Larence, Paris, and Juliet are having a back and forth conversation about her marriage. Juliet was upset and told Friar Lawrence, “Do thou but call my resolution wise, And with this knife I will help it presently. God joined my heart and Romeos, thou our hands.And ere this hand, by thee to Romeo sealed, Shall be the label to another deed,”(Act 4 scene 1)  Juliet is talking to Friar Lawrence that she will solve the problem with a kinfe.  This scene signifies Juliet commencing to be more violent with the way she handles situtations. In Act 4 scene 3, Lady Capulet said goodnight to Juliet, with Juliet alone she starts to overthink the situations she says, “What if it be a poison, which the friar Subtly hath ministered to have me dead, Lest in this marriage he should be dishonored Because he married me before to Romeo? I fear it is. And yet, methink, it should not.” (Act 4 scene 3)  Making threats as she becomes desperate for Romeo. Only love can make you that crazy.  Juliet is questioning herself in this scene about the worst things that may happen the following day. This substantiates how even though they have a plan workout she is questioning everything meaning she is lost. Lost mentally and not in the right mentality to be in love.

Going onto Act 5, scene 3 Juliet and Friar Lawrence were approaching the tomb and he describes how Romeo looks pale, covered in blood. Juliet freaks out and does not know what to do and goes on to say her last line, “ea, noise? Then i'll bried. O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die. (stabs herself with Romeo dagger and dies).”(Act 5 scene 3) At the end of the play Juliet ultimately ends up killing herself once she realized Romeo drank the poison. Juliet had deppresion she had built up over time as she was confused for her love for Romeo. As she used to be an obedient innocent girl who is unkowdlegable on how to handle emotions. She becomes reckless on how to handle her situations. She was dead. Her obsession and deep love for Romeo has caused her enough suffering and as being a person who was mentally lost she did not know what to do.

All through the play Juliet is a pure and obedient young girl who respects herself  to  becoming mentally lost. Starting from the beginning, she is not wanting anything to do with Romeo rejecting his love and kisses because of her religious belifs. Midway through the story she falls in love pouring her love out to him. She is still retainng a bit of a distance when she was hesitant when Romeo asked her to marry her. At the end of the story she utilizes threats and violence in order to retain her love with Romeo. Taking away how she would commit suicide in order to be with him. In which she eventually did when she found Romeo dead on the floor.sed d to the point that she commits suicide regarding her love for Romeo. Was this love really forbidden? Or was it never complete?
