Leader Analysis of Jack Ma

Jack Ma International leader that I’ve chosen because of his overall story and demeanor which is that of a simple Man. He doesn’t act as if he’s the smartest person in the room or the most well-spoken and he acts like a normal individual that you’re speaking from his mind something similar in concept and promise to Joe Rogan. Because if you look at him he’s like everybody else he’s made his money by sheer luck and perseverance and he hasn’t bloated with his money he’s attempted to give back and create more wealth and do as much as he can for the people. Also, Jack Ma as an international businessman/leader is someone that appeals to everyone’s humanity and doesn’t try to use your logic to win people over, because while he is moderately intelligent he has had time to mature and has been faced with failure and has done things he has not wanted to do. Having watched several YouTube videos hearing him speak and a line that stuck out was “Every day is uncertain, the only certain day is yesterday”. This is very true because nothing is certain except yesterday because disaster and blessing can happen in a second.

“Jack Ma was born Ma Yun in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. Ma struggled attending college, failing the entrance exam for the Hangzhou Teachers College twice. (His weak point was mathematics.) The Chinese entrance exams are held only once a year and Ma took three years to pass and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in English While at school, Ma was head of the student council. According to Ma's autobiographical speech, after graduating from Hangzhou Normal University in 1988, Ma applied for 30 different odd jobs and was rejected by everyone. "I went for a job with the police; they said, 'you're no good'", Ma told interviewer Charlie Rose. "I even went to KFC when it came to my city. Twenty-four people went for the job. Twenty-three were accepted. I was the only guy [rejected]” said Ma. 

While this is a rather long passage it represents a quality that qualities and showcases that he international business people and that is failure and perseverance as most international business individuals have failed and moved forward, and how they respond is the indicator of their future. The future for him was great having started a company prior to Alibaba he decided to focus on his own dreams and aspirations in 1999 where he started Alibaba with a group of 18 friends. In October 1999 and January 2000, Alibaba won a total of a $25 million foreign venture capital investment from Goldman Sachs and Softbank and the rest is history. That’s what I think that Jack Ma is a successful international businessman as he was looking at the whole global market and making connections on a global scale rather than looking internally in China at the time of the creation of both his companies and even now.

The correlation between International business & Jack Ma is very clear with having read what he’s accomplished and how he views the world and people in itself. Because he’s always thought about how multiple markets can interact on a global scale on how those multiple markets form the global market as a whole. Because he saw that what the Chinese market was and he also saw how the US market was operating during the time of the Internet and seeing where the Chinese market lacked he acted on it by learning what he could and what he didn’t know he learned about but he found people that were more intelligent and I feel that he was. Because in all actuality Jack Ma is the everyday man compared to some of these moguls and geniuses that for all intents and purposes were built differently. Because while Jack ma is different because he’s an entrepreneur and not everybody can be an entrepreneur and an international business person it is more apparent when you watch the interview between Elon Musk and Jack Ma. Because his answers are simple and he’s not an expert on the field it’s easy to forget that these entrepreneurs and international businessman and women are only experts on a singular topic and while they can push themselves to understand a multitude of topics they can’t understand everything and I think Jack Ma exemplifies that to be great means that you have to have great people around you. 

As for how we connect to international business he saw an emerging market and thought of how he can use that market to expand and grow his idea of information transmission with the creation of Alibaba as one instance and even before that when he was working for the company that hired him he sought to expand Chinese market into a different direction than what it was headed towards.

I’ve always been interested in international business and the international leaders that are at the top from across the globe primarily because each one speaks and has a different story it has a different mindset and with a different mindset they have different approaches towards problems and solutions. And it’s honestly admirable for all these international businessmen and women with the approaches that they had who they have met and what they’ve done with their lives because it’s nothing short of miraculous that they’ve impacted the entire globe on such a massive scale. Honestly, I don’t have any questions at the moment but if given the opportunity to speak to any one of them I’d ask them anything and everything to expand and acquire as much information as I can from them because their stories are interesting in themselves. And what’s check my showcases specifically is that everyday man can still succeed just by running him/herself around intellectuals in different fields so as to simply surround yourself with intelligent people in different fields and it’s OK to not know everything because nobody knows everything and it’s always good to ask questions. Because it’s better to be a leader asking questions and learning than a leader who is not asking questions and leading their followers blindly. He is an international leader and checks my eyes more as a humanitarian than other individuals like Elon Musk who is focused on creating his vision.
