When living life in the present, individuals can build and learn from mistakes, while accepting their past and essentially evolving their character.  Planning unrealistic standards and developing a fake future could prevent you from finding a passion, opportunity, or growth as a person.

Beloved American country singer, Dolly Parton, started in the Rocky Mountains of Tennessee, singing with her family; Dolly created and followed her dreams while staying present and understanding her reality, which overall impacted her success. Dolly grew up on a tobacco farm, and her family's one bedroom house held 14 people, but Dolly persevered through the challenges of her early life. Dolly began practicing her musical talents, and eventually her uncle introduced her to the producer of Cas Walker Farm and Home Hour which was her initial start to stardom. After graduating highschool, Dolly moved on to Nashville to pursue her dreams as a singer and songwriter. Dolly proves that taking chances and following your heart can lead to an unimaginable future. If Dolly didn’t choose to follow her dreams and passions, and chose only the path presented by “what she knew” then she wouldn’t have been rewarded with special memories, awards, and amazing opportunities.

Although some may believe following a plan for the future is secure and safe, establishing goals and reaching for success is an important part of living in the moment, and Betty White, an American actress and comedian, not only pushed through the sexist accusations of the filming industry, but stayed on an inspiring path and became a motivating individual for American women. Betty White entered the television world in 1930, and she famously starred in the Golden Girls. Additionally, Betty was the oldest host of the well known show Saturday Night Live, and her career continued into her 90’s until Betty tragically died in 2021 at the age of 99. Betty is a legend among TV producers and stars, and while Betty’s life wasn't planned, she ultimately followed her dreams, stood behind her beliefs, and was a successful TV star that lived her life to the fullest.

Conclusively, impactful individuals can influence the importance of focusing on living life as it happens, and overall, the risks, mistakes, and challenges we overcome throughout life. We can’t predict or plan our future exactly, so we must live and learn in the current reality we have.
