People from around the world are shocked when they come to America because of our greed to have so much. In the United States of America, we have substantial amounts of products and services. Many of us spend hours on our electronics and hours playing video games. Limiting this time on social media can contribute to spending more time with family, improving mental health, and improving your physical health. Personally, I believe that we should limit the time we spend on our phones, computers, and video games. 

Others may think that we should not limit screen time because it can cause some people to lose their job because they cannot communicate with their boss or with other colleagues. In addition to losing jobs, it can cause people to lose communication with their families. These are valid points because losing the source of income is a demanding thing to go through and support yourself until you get a new job. Secondly, these are valid because communicating with family is particularly important because unexpected events could happen. Despite this, there are flaws because the individual can use this as an excuse to use their phone. While limiting screen time people can limit themselves to only doing work or school instead of social media but are people really going to do that, no.  

Spending more time on our phones or laptops limits the time we get to spend with our family, friends, and pets. I have spent 6 hours and 18 minutes on average so far this week which shows that even a busy and active person can still “make” time to go on social media and talk with friends. Limiting screen time contributes to spending more family time, spending time with your family is particularly important because it is important to talk to the people who are important. Mental health is extremely important because it affects the way you act and the way you look at yourself. I know that social media does not help mental health, being a girl and seeing other girls compare themselves, many have insecurities because they compare themselves to others. Spending less time on social media can improve your confidence because you do not have the chance to compare to others. Using less time on your phone can also improve your physical health by being able to get outside and be moving. I always make time in my day, especially in the summer, to play with my sister on the trampoline or go on a bike ride. Being active improves your mental health as well, so it is a whole cycle.  

Decreasing the use of cell phones can help people overall be healthier, and happier. Limiting the screen is especially important because why be sad when you can be happy and healthy? Being happy and enjoying life is important because you only get one.
