“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed”,stated Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2,1869 in Porbandar,India.

As a kid Monhandas came from an upper class family and his dad was the kingpin in there local community.As a tradition where he grew his parents arranged a marriage for him at the age 13.Gandhi's parents wanted Gandhi to be a barrister which is a type of lawyer.As a result when he became 19 he traveled to England,and studied law at the University College of London.Since law practice was unsuccessful he took a job with an Indian law firm and moved to South Africa to work with the South African law office.

While in South Africa Gandhi would experience racial prejudice against Indians.This is when  Gandhi started his work in civil rights.Gandhi came back to India then he led a fight for India's independence from the British Empire.Gandhi organized several non-violent civil disobedience campaigns.During these campaigns they will refuse to work (boycotting the courts).Gandhi was also thrown into prison seven times for organizing these protests.While he was in prison he would often fast(not eat) in prison but the British government would release him because they didn't know what would happen if they had let him die in prison.

One of Gandhi's most successful protests was called the ¨Salt March¨.It is called the salt march because Great Britain put taxes on the salt.Since that was a bad thing Gandhi acted so he decided to walk two hundred-forty one miles to the sea in Dandi,India to make his own salt.He wasn't alone even thousands of other Indianś joined him.This protest was successful since Gandhi made India obtain their independent and would not be ruled by the British Empire.Gandhi also fought for civil rights and liberties among Indian.

After Gandhi fought for India to obtain their independent country one hundred sixty eight days later.On January 30,1948 in New Delhi,India Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse while attending a prayer meeting.
