Banksy is a fully anonymous artist who displays his art on publicly visible places leading to both outrage and admiration. He has never confirmed his identity and he wants to keep it that way so it doesn’t take away from the key issues that he is trying to convey. He started doing graffiti as a teenager in Bristol UK during 1990. He is a mysterious and subversive artist who uses original imagery to develop his own unique voice to create satirical and subversive political messages. Through this, Banksy has become a household name even though it conflicts with his values. Banksy uses street art in direct response to what he calls brandalism, which is an advertisement in a public space that people see without a choice. Street Art evolved to any visual art created in public locations, specifically unsanctioned artwork. The Street Art movement is the belief that art should be in opposition to society while being empowering, and being accessible to the public. By staying true to Street Art, Banksy has constructed work that utilizes satire, subversion, dark humour, and irony to create social and political issues for the public to see.

Banksy produced man with dog in June 2018 at Sorbonne University, Paris, France. The work depicts a man holding a saw and offering a bone to his maimed three-legged dog. On 20 June 2018 World Refugee Day Banksy went to France to express his opinion about their poor management of the refugee crisis. He wanted to show the public what was going on in their own country that the government was not telling them. Man with Dog portrays a man offering a treat to a stray dog while concealing a weapon behind his back. During examination, the dog is missing his leg, while the man is offering it a bone as a treat, with the saw behind his back, the painting implies that the man chopped the dog's leg off and now is feeding it to it. The way in which the dog is looking up at the man shows the man’s power and how innocent the dog is. While the painting is representing refugees it also represents how humans interact with animals and how they treat them. The public appreciates the work due to it addressing the issue within their society and its dual meaning due to its lack of context. Banksy uses this to create an image of his own interpretation without being hindered by the historical reality. His style is universally familiar, founded on a signature stencil aesthetic, that enhances his speed. He uses original imagery to develop his own unique voice through man with dog.

Man with dog shows how one piece of artwork can be interconnected with different social and pollical issues due to its dual interpretation. Banksy uses the relevance of new emerging social and pollical issues to base his art so, it will have an everlasting relevance to society. This increases the dynamic between the public and Banksy due to the duality that develops through different interpretations. Banksy illustrates through Man with dog, that the government doesn’t see the refugees as equal and the problems with the migration policies. It also relieves the flaws of corruption in government and how the government deals with these kinds of issues.
