My Hero Academia is a fiction story about the appearance of "quirks," newly discovered superpowers, which have been steadily increasing over the years, with 80 percent of ty possessing various abilities. The 20 percent of humanity who do not possess power are called " "quirkless", and are usually looked down on upon the supernatural community. Academies across the globe train their students to learn to fight crime with their powers. But Izuku Midoriya, a boy born in Japan without any powers, dreams of being able to become a superhero too but gets bullied for his unrealistic dreams. Until one day, his fate changes in an unexpected meeting with the no.1 hero All Might, and after learning the details of his quirk he is given the chance to become his successor and inherent one for all. Fast forward six months of training to be able to inherit the ability he goes on to join UA high school but must first pass the exam U.A. High's Entrance Exam consists of a written and a practical test, with the practical being the more important of the two. During the practical exam, candidates conduct mock battles in a replica city. Examinees are given ten minutes to use their Quirks to immobilize robotic villains to score points depending on the robot's point value. The more points one examinee earns, the higher their chance is to get accepted into U.A. High. Candidates are not allowed to fight other candidates. Doing so results in disqualification. Students hailing from the same middle school are placed in different testing areas to avoid potential cooperation. Other than scoring villain points, judges monitoring the exam reward rescue points for heroic acts. This criterion is not shared with the students though so they are motivated towards genuine selflessness. As the exam nears the end, Izuku has been unable to dispatch any of the robots. Suddenly, a huge 0-point robot appears and Izuku sees a girl trapped under rubble. Izuku, bravely, decides to save the girl. Izuku jumps up to the robot and, for the first time, uses One for All and delivers a destructive punch to the huge robot, smashing it into pieces and shocking everyone. Izuku, having used One for All for the first time, begins feeling the aftershock of the Quirk; his legs are broken as well as his right arm. Izuku considers using One For All to make a safe landing but is unable to do so, due to his battered limbs. The girl whom Izuku saved from the huge robot, uses her Quirk to make him float, saving him as he lands on the ground thinking of the exam. However, the practical test is declared over, much to Izuku's devastation before he falls unconscious. One week later, Izuku receives a letter that will reveal whether he made it into U.A. or not. He opens the letter, which displays a screen with All Might on it. All Might apologizes to Izuku for not contacting him sooner. He then says that from now on he is going to work at U.A. All Might tell Izuku that he did fine on the written test, but scored zero points on the practical test which meant he failed, much to Izuku's sadness. However, All Might then shows a video of the girl who saved Izuku, Ochaco, asking Present Mic if she could share her points with him because he saved her, much to his shock. All Might say that the judges were looking for more than just smashing robots; they were also looking for rescue points, of which Izuku scored 60 for saving Ochaco. All Might say that Izuku has passed, meaning he has been accepted, and U.A. will now be his Hero Academia, much to Izuku's joy. After being accepted Izuku gets to class and is met with the news the class was put Under the threat of expulsion on their very first day at U.A., the students of Class 1-A have their ability to effectively use their Quirks judged by their homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa, to determine if they are fit to be heroes or not. Shota explains that they will be having a Quirk Apprehension Test that will try out their Quirks since they were not able to use their Quirks in middle school. After Katsuki uses his Quirk for a trial pitch, the students find it to be fun. However, Shota does not seem pleased by their reactions and then makes a new rule; the student who ranks last in total points will be deemed hopeless and immediately expelled, which shocks Izuku. During the trials, every student uses their Quirks to excel while Izuku struggles since he can only use One For All at one hundred percent or not at all. Katsuki does well with each test thanks to the versatility of his Quirk. The class reaches the pitching test and Izuku realizes this is the only test left where he can show off his abilities to avoid getting expelled. He tries to use his Quirk to throw the ball, but it fails. Shota reveals his own Quirk, the ability to erase other people’s Quirks. Izuku recognizes him as the Eraser Hero: Eraser Head. Eraser Head explains he erased Izuku's Quirk because of the severe drawback. He continues to say Izuku's Quirk will make him a liability and that he has no place at the school. Izuku is given one more throw, leaving him with the choice to either use One for All and fail the other tests or not use it and fail this one. Taking Shota's advice into account, Izuku throws his pitch, and at the last second, he concentrates One For All through his fingertips. The explosive throw gives Izuku a high score and impresses not only his classmates but his teacher as well. at the end of the exam, Izuku gets the lowest score but since he impressed his teacher the teacher removed the rule by saying that it was an empty threat. A couple of weeks go by and they were going to have another training exercise but this time it would be different. At 12:50 in the afternoon, Shota announces that their lesson in Foundational Skill of Heroics will be the Trial of Rescue. The lesson will take place at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint (USJ) Facility, a practical training area that is designed to simulate any kind of accident or disaster. One of the teachers for the lesson, Space Hero Thirteen (a pro-hero who helps with disaster relief) gives a speech to Class 1-A, telling them that their lesson will be about wielding their Quirks for the sake of human life. After the speech is finished, Shota sees a black portal opening and dozens of villains come through it. Shota confirms the situation is real and orders his students to huddle together and commands Thirteen to protect the students, gearing up for battle himself. One of the villains says that All Might was supposed to be here according to the curriculum they procured yesterday, as Another villain is shown to be disappointed that All Might is not here and wonders if All Might will show up if they kill the children. Shota Aizawa fought off many of the villains that attacked until being beaten up by a creature called a “Nomu” which somehow had multiple quirks. Meanwhile, Thirteen was fighting the portal villain and made an opening for the class rep Ilda to run out to call for help as thirteen was fighting he allowed the villain teleport some of the students to various parts of the USJ. An hour goes by of nonstop fighting all the students were safe and back together after defeating many small villains. Then as the students were ready to fight the Nomu All Might arrives and saves everyone at the cost of his quirk weakening inside him since he had passed it on. Midoriya was devastated that he couldn’t do anything to help so that day forward he swore he would master his quirk.
