Throughout my college research, I found two colleges I would like to attend. The Two Colleges I would like to attend are the University of Houston, and University of Houston Downtown. no matter what direction I might go. A positive way to think about things is to believe in myself and tell myself I got this. I have narrowed my choices down to Nursing, Forensic Nursing, and Public Health at this moment I think these choices are the best fit for me.

In Nursing, I would be able to care for the patients, make sure patients are taking their medicine, taking patients vital signs, and being able to communicate with the doctors. It is a necessary foundation for a nurse to build their intelligence for the future. “Becoming a nurse can take anywhere from 1 to 4 years, depending on the level of nursing education planned” (“Nursing: What Can I Expect If I Choose This Profession?”). all nurses utilize the same nursing process. “There are 2 types of nurses, a licensed practical nursing (LPN) or in some states referred to as licensed vocational nursing (LVN) and a registered nurse (RN)” (“Nursing: What Can I Expect If I Choose This Profession?”). Registered nurses (RN) form the backbone of health care provision. RNs provide critical health care to the public wherever it is needed. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), also known as Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), support the core health care team and work under the supervision of an RN, APRN or MD. They ensure the wellbeing of patients throughout the whole of the health care journey. From all this information this career may be the right fit for me.

Forensic Nursing can provide me with Testifying in court as an expert medical witness, taking blood and tissue samples, taking photos, and measuring wounds on the body. Forensic nursing is meant for anyone who applies the effort, but “Forensic Nurses will help investigate crimes such as sexual assault, physical assault, and accidental death” (“Job Description for Forensic Nurses”). People that put effort into becoming a forensic nurse will succeed but there is a lot of responsibility that comes with the job. You must mentally prepare your mind to see death, blood, bones, everything that involves the death of someone. “Due to the nature of their jobs, it is imperative that Forensic Nurses are prepared physically and mentally for a fast-paced, structured and research-oriented work environment” (“Job Description for Forensic Nurses”). Forensic nursing is defined as the application of the nursing process to public or legal proceedings, and the forensic health care in the scientific investigation of trauma and/or death related to abuse, violence, criminal activity, liability, and accidents. Forensic Nursing would allow me to see what it's like to see death and how to deal with it.

Thirdly, Public Health seems right to me that I can help perform research to indicate health hazards that affect the community and help to monitor and solve public health outbreaks. Public health, “It is also possible for public health workers to be employed in government, academia and in various industries and for them to manage public health issues through vaccinations and by analyzing trends regarding the health of certain populations and demographics” (“The Complete Public Health Job Description”). When looking for government jobs in public health, it is important to search the local job boards found online with the agency. “Public health professions can also be involved in reducing the impact of health hazards related to the environment, and they can do so in a number of ways” (“The Complete Public Health Job Description”). One way to help public health is to encourage people to stay updated on their vaccines by talking about the benefits of getting a shot. Being a public health worker would allow me to protect and encourage the public to do positive things.

As a result of my research into these three careers, I am leaning more towards Forensic Nursing. I think it would allow me to have more satisfaction because I am directly helping the death of a family rather than indirectly as I would in nursing or public health. I would see more pride in myself.
