Narrative Essay on My Strengths and Weaknesses in Essay Writing

I will admit that when it comes to writing, I am not the best.  I mostly struggle with the introductory part of the essay or with the conclusion. I find it hard to start an essay and include all the necessary pieces to write a good intro. For example, introducing a sound hook that grabs the reader's attention. Or in the conclusion paragraph, when revising the thesis and the main ideas, all while not being repetitive. It is something that doesn't come easily to me. However, I do have some skills when it comes to developing an essay. Like, grammar or the organization of paragraphs. Thus, I have some strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing an essay. 

Structuring paragraphs. Again, introductory paragraphs nor conclusions are my strong suit. In my introduction, I failed to write a clear statement of my thesis statement. Also, I was way to focus on how the issue personally affected me that I forgot to include a definition and a brief analysis of that issue. Moreover, the conclusion paragraph needed a better summary of the main ideas and the thesis. And didn't include a "wider meaning" of the issue. But, my body paragraphs are pretty adequate to me. They are tightly organized and well-developed. I started each body part with a topic sentence related to the main idea of the essay. I also provided examples and details to support the purpose of the segment. The transition words are mainly within the paragraphs, and I need to include them at the beginning of the section to help the essay flow better. Overall, the organization of the paragraphs is satisfactory. 

Evidence (supporting ideas). I presented examples with details on my experience with the issue and how it affected me. Included an overview of the definition of the issue and how it influences others who are in the same boat. Although, I should've written facts or statistical evidence of the issue to help explain the purpose of my essay to inform readers. In addition, the readers will be able to read about personal situations in which the issue impacts my family’s life. And I utilized words that describe emotion to interact with the reader and let them know how it affects my family and me. 

Grammar. I believe this might be my top strength. My essay is substantially free of errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and mechanics. Plus, I never used the word "you." 

Diction, Syntax, Style. Overall, the writing is clear. Word choice is appropriate for the main idea of the essay. Sentence structures are adequate and implemented a variety of sentence patterns.

So, my strengths appear to outnumber my weaknesses, but the flaws in my writing are critical points to forming a well-developed essay. Therefore, it is something I need to work on to write a better paper. With this evaluation, I don't even think I achieved a "C" paper.
