It was a crisp and cold Halloween night and we, my family and I, were all getting ready for the next few hours of walking around our large neighborhood trick or treating. We went to get our three Siberian Huskies-a mommy dog, Lacey, and her two puppies, Loki the youngest  and Freya the older sibling- in from our backyard,so they could play and get out their giant energy levels before their bedtime, and they were not  there, they had vanished just like a ghost when you glance away. All three dogs were gone and it was getting dark on a cold night ,which is their favorite weather, they would be out forever it seemed, oh no! The  last time our dogs got out they were out for only 30 minutes and then ran home, maybe this time? Hopefully. Soon, kids dressed scarily like terrible monsters, would be all out on the streets and our dogs would be avoiding the terrifyingly dressed people-as they are very shy dogs-, so where in the world would they be is the big question. Our house is located near a busy road and missing dogs do not  mix well with busy streets so when they get out it is very worrisome for the whole family.

My mom, dad,  and I all driving around in our maroon Honda were looking out the rolled down tinted windows for our naughty dogs. We all collectively had absolutely no idea on where in our neighborhood they could be.  They could even be behind our house in the dark and mysterious woods. We searched for hours that felt like long  days. Our eyes rapidly dashing to anything white and black or gray, we were all collectively starting to think of the worst that could happen to our dogs. Anyone could take them, they could be in a completely different neighborhood by now. Possibly even on the scary highway. We had no clues or definite answers of whether we would get all three amazing Siberian huskies back to our house.

Soon brother and sister are searching through the empty lots between houses and peeking through the un-fenced yards hollering for our dogs to come home. My family of five are all thinking of the worst like “will they be taken by another household?” “Will they be hit on the street?” “What if they bite some and need to be put down?''We go to a pond near us where deer are frolicking around with each other, often in the evenings hoping they would be attracted by all the deer scents. No trace of them. They start to ask if any trick or treaters have seen them and they all say something along the lines of “nope haven’t seen ‘em”. My siblings thinking if they’re not here why would they be? Start to walk towards a community pool and playground behind an empty lot with a man made lake, then they see them. All three mischievous dogs, black, grey and white in coloration, were playing around with each other near the colorful and vibrantly painted young children's playground. They stopped and stared blankly at my siblings.

They walk up to our three sprightly dogs saying “come here, let’s go on a walk” and all three ,who were stopped completely in their tracks, stare for 5 long seconds like statues then bolt in the other direction, thinking it was a game of tag . They ran around and then they wedged themselves  straight into a corner between a wall and a pond. They are stuck as they all hate water because they are huskies.

Finally they get their designated color coded leashes on for each dog and walk them to my mothers car, we drive them home and we check to see if they are all healthy with no injuries , they are all fine. In the car they stare and shout loud sharp barks at all of the scantily dressed kids and teenagers. We get Home and let them have a nice long drink of water and then put them in their large kennels for the rest of our Halloween night. Before we leave we check how they got out, after looking around our backyard we find it. All three dogs made a crater under our fence together that night. The cool breezy weather was just enough motivation for them to dig and dig a hole to wedge themselves under and out of our backyard. Those crazy dogs! We always have a great time trick or treating, three whole hours late or not.
