I hadn't seen my grandma for two years because the company of numerous people always brought her stress. Finally, this summer my parents told the family that we were going to visit my grandma in July with my relatives.

It was finally the day that we were leaving to go see my grandma to celebrate her birthday and to spend time with her.  My siblings and I were so excited to finally get to visit her. We packed our bags and headed out the door to go on an 8-hour drive to finally arrive in Ohio. Once we arrived, my cousins and Uncle were already there, and we went down to the basement to unpack everything. It smelt exactly like I remembered and everything was perfectly set up. Later that night we went out to dinner without my grandma because it was too much for her to go out since we already had a huge dinner planned for her birthday the following day.  I understood this even though it made me somber because I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. We decided to get pizza and ice cream and then finally went home where we watched TV with my grandma which I was really excited about. I remember my grandmother’'s exact words, “I wish we had done this more in the past '', this broke my heart because it reminded me of such little time I had spent with her in the past few years.   After watching tv my cousins and I set up our air mattresses and finally got to lay down. Before we had fallen asleep, we talked about how our grandma is getting sicker and that this is probably going to be the last time we are going to visit her.  This brought sorrow to the conversation and my cousin, Lucy, started crying. I had to calm her down and explain to her that it was all going to be okay and grandma was going to get better. Even though I knew it wasn't true which made it even worse. She finally fell asleep and the older cousins and I were still talking about it until we fell asleep a few minutes later.  The next day was an enormous day planned; we got up, got ready and headed out the door to go to brunch. I got these scrumptious golden brown waffles with butter and syrup. I downed it in minutes, it was that delicious.  After brunch, we all went hiking without my grandma, talking about our lives and what has been going on recently.  After hiking, we went back to her house and had a nice lunch on my grandma's patio as she explained to us how she has been feeling recently and how everything has been going on with her health. Hearing these appalling things about her health was horrible to hear and made me feel so upset. “Why my grandma? She is the kindest human on Earth! She shouldn't have to feel this way!”, my exact thoughts as she was speaking. A few hours after,  we then went to dinner to celebrate her birthday; which was actually a couple days before my birthday since our birthdays are pretty close together.   We had to take two different cars since there weren't enough people for one car. I rode with my cousin, Maia, my Uncle Chris and my grandma.  Maia was my favorite cousin because we were about the same age and related to everything together. During the car ride, we had a nice conversation with my grandma about school and then finally arrived at the dinner place. When I got out, I helped her walk in and we sat down and had this super nice waiter named Jim.  Jim made sure it was perfect when the restaurant sang “Happy Birthday” to her and brought out the cake.  My grandma was super happy and had an amazing meal. This brought me so much joy, seeing my grandma light up. After finishing up our meals and conversations, we went home. My cousins and I watched Dance Moms before going to bed and laughed about how hilarious Abby: the Dance Couch, was acting. The next morning, my other Uncle, Roger, surprised my grandma by coming into town without her notice. When she finally woke up she was so happy to see him. We all had a perfect breakfast with strawberry crepes.  This is my favorite meal that he makes. My uncle is a perfect chef.  Later that day my grandma and I had a one-on-one talk in her room. I was talking to her about all my drama as she was responding with advice. I ended up falling asleep next to her for 2 hours.  My cousins ran in and woke us up because apparently my uncle had a huge surprise for her downstairs.  I helped my grandma walk down the stairs and we saw at least ten more people in her kitchen that were apparently her relatives. I had never met them before so my sister and I sat there awkwardly at first. My grandma was so happy, her face lit up with joy.  The night finally came to an end and packing began. Since we were leaving tomorrow at 6 a.m, we all said our goodbyes to my grandma. She didn't wake up until around 11a.m which was why it was better to say goodbye the night before. At the crack of dawn, we woke up and had left my grandma a card signed by all of us and then headed home. I was so miserable that we had to leave and refused to talk to anyone on the way home.

My grandma was always my favorite person because we always related to each other and always just connected in a way that none of my other relatives connected with her. Knowing that my grandma was sick was really hard on me since she had gone through so many illnesses and we didn't know what she had at the moment.  October 13 2021, My dad got a call from my uncle that my grandma now has breast cancer.
