Narrative Essay Sample: Travel to Daytona Beach

Florida is an amazing place to travel to. Over Fall Break, me and my family traveled to Daytona Beach. The trip lasted the whole week of Fall Break. Even though it took a day of traveling to get there, the experience was definitely worth it. Our family had so much fun on the trip. I know we will never forget it. We visited souvenir shops, Disney World, and the beach while on our trip.

All along the beach were little souvenir shops. They had so many nice things in stock. The view I saw when I walked in the door shocked me. Clothing racks everywhere, jewelry displays, and towels on every wall. Vibrant colors filled the shops. Loud music played throughout them. Those stores sold so many things that you can’t find in Arizona. You would pass a corner, and there could be 3 or even more on that street. My family and I visited so many of them. We got cute little key  chains and sweaters to remember our trip.  

We also visited Disney World. We only got to go to Magic Kingdom, though. We woke up bright and early to be in the park for as long as possible. The parks that day were open from 9 in the morning to 8:30 at night. Once we were there, we experienced the magic that is Disney World. We went on almost 20 rides. Some of the rides were Mickey’s Philharmagic, it’s a small world, the Tomorrowland Speedway, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. I had heard from other people that the wait times for some of the rides were long and tiring. But, since we went on a Tuesday in the Fall, the wait times were way shorter than we expected. We also got to experience the fireworks and light show. The display was absolutely gorgeous, albeit a little loud.

Beaches surround a large area of Daytona Beach. Our hotel had a beautiful beachfront view. It was amazing to smell the ocean and feel the breeze. Our hotel also had a pool, so we went to the beach and  the pool. We went to the beach every day where we didn’t go anywhere else. The only problem with the beach I saw was that you had to make sure not to get any water in your eyes, or in your mouth. If you got water in your eyes, it stung, and if you got it in your mouth, prepare for that salty taste. Me and my sister brought back so many shells from the sand. They are so pretty because they are all super different. 

Although our trip was a whole week long, time indeed does fly when you’re having fun. I'm glad that my family had this opportunity. It was me and my sister’s first time going there. My mom and my dad came back 15 years later, after their honeymoon in 2006. I sure hope that we can visit again soon, or even travel to a different place and have fun there as well.
